Abstract

1,262,739. Portable power drills. ROCKWELL MFG. CO. 8 Aug., 1969 [9 Aug., 1968], No. 39764/69. Heading B3C. In a portable electrically-driven drill the spindles 30, 100, 32, Figs. 2 and 6, are mounted for rotation in metal bearing plates 74, 106, fixed in a split plastics casing 20. A switch assembly 38 is operable to control the motor speed in either direction. Plates 74, 106, Figs. 7, 8, are made from oil-soaked metal powder, and have recesses 210, 211, 215, 216, which co-operate with protuberances on the casing 20 so as to prevent rotation of the plates in the casing. A plastics fan 68 provides for the cooling of motor 22.
