Abstract

PURPOSE: To disperse dressing marks or striations to provide higher grinding accuracy by controlling the revolving speed of a wheel in order to maintain a constant outer-surface speed so that the revolving speed ratio of the grinding wheel to a dresser is maintained between the experimental values of 1.0 to 1.2 or 1.8 to 2.0.
CONSTITUTION: A grinding wheel outer-surface arithmetic circuit 51 and an inverter 52 compose a circuit, that increases the revolving speed of a grinding wheel 21 as its diameter decreases, to keep its outer-surface speed constant regardless of the change of the wheel diameter. By selecting a proper driving pulley used for a rotary dresser 34, the ratio of revolving speed of the wheel Nw to that of the rotary dresser Nd or Nw/Nd is maintained within the above mentioned ranges to disperse dressing marks or striations.
