Abstract

Objects detected by radar are displayed on a television screen acting as a plan position indicator. This is performed by using a coordinate converter to convert polar coordinates from the radar to rectangular coordinates for the TV screen. Problems of object size relative to TV display segment are overcome to avoid confusion between several small objects and a much larger object. A radar video signal (SV) is sent to an extractor (1) where it is sampled and coded (2) for storage in a buffer memory (3) where the samples are located at addresses determined by polar coordinates (RHO-O, THETA -O). A decision circuit (4) with adjustable threshold (S) provides logic presence or absence signals for display circuits (5). These contain a TV display segment memory (6) which is addressed by rectangular coordinates (X, Y) from conversion (7) and calculation (8) from polar valves (RHO-O, THETA - O).
