Abstract

The sheet is sufficiently flexible for the sheet to be stocked in rolls. The foam layer is smooth, to accept a decorative cover of e.g. paper. Used esp. for covering walls to be insulated against hot or cold thermal gradients and/or sealed against damp. The laminate is mounted by bonding the Al layer to the wall using an adhesive which is compatible with the expanded polystyrene. Composite sheet comprises Al foil laminated to a thin layer of expanded polystyrene. The Al layer is pref. 100, esp. 15-45 mu thick. The foam layer is pref. 10, esp. 1.5-4.5 mm thick. The Al layer pref. extends beyond the foam layer along one or two borders, to enable the edges to be sealed by folding the foil about the edge. The cover may be integral with the laminate, may be of wallpaper, cloth, foil or paint.
