Abstract
'One-shot' process for making semi-rigid polyurethane foams comprises reacting (A) a mixt. of polyols consisting of (i) >=1 polyether polyol (I) of equiv. wt. 1000-3000, mean theoretical functionality (MTF) 2-4 and prepd. by polyaddition of propylene oxide and opt. also ethylene oxide (up to 30 wt. % of the alkylene oxides added) to >=1 OH-contg. cpd. (ii) 1-15 wt. % on (I) of >=1 polyether polyol and/or polyol of MTF 2-3 and equiv. wt. 150; and (iii) 1-10 wt. % on (I) of >=1 aminated polyether polyol obtained by adding ethylene oxide to NH3 or triethanolamine and having equiv. wt. 60-200, with (B) org. polyisocyanates comprising 50-100 wt. % crude aromatic polyisocyanates and 0-50 wt. % TDI; together with catalysts and blowing agents. The foam are used e.g. in shock-absorbing structures and in interior upholstery for cars. Shrinkage of the foam after moulding does not occur.
