Abstract

The ski-stick consists of two tubular members (1) and (2) normally held together by an inner cylindrical member (8). The cylindrical member (8) is held in position by a conical headed bolt (5) which screws into a diaphragm (4) in the lower tube (2). The upper part of the cylindrical member (8) is secured by a tension spring (14) attached to a transverse pin (16) in the upper tube (1). The cylindrical member (10) overlaps the joint (3) between tubes (1) and (2). In the event of the skier falling on the handle (18) the cylindrical member (8) is pushed downwards until its upper surface comes into line with the joint (3) allowing the stick to collapse without causing injury.
