Abstract

The lower half (2) of the split clamp is screwed to the roof rack (6). The upper half (3) is pinned (12) to the lower half flange (9a) and is free to rotate in a vertical sense. When the clamp is closed a central circular space is left between the two halves for the handlebar tube. A lever (15) pivoting on the second lower half flange (9b) has a pin (14) which clips over a stop (17) on the clamp upper half and into a recess with an overcentre action, holding the clamp closed. Two clamps are used on the handlebars and an elastic webbing strap holds the saddle to the roof-rack.
