Abstract

The level variations of the expelled breath can be observed by means of a coloured liquid contained in a transparent tube. This liquid is sensitive to the pressure exerted by a part of the human breath which is taken from an opening in the musical instrument. The flute has a mouth piece having two openings (A1-A2) connected to a pressure dividing chamber (B), one part leads to the flute via A1 the other to a tube (D) which feeds a reservoir (E) containing the coloured liquid. A second tube (F) connects to a transparent tube (G). A scale (J) graduated according to the chromatic range completes the teaching aid.
