Abstract

Cpds. of formula ArCF3 or ArOCF3, where Ar is aryl, are prepd. by reacting molybdenum hexafluoride and the cpd. ArCOCl, ArCSCl or ArOCSCl. The reaction is pref. carried out in two stages, the first at -20 to -30 degrees C and the second between 20 degrees C and 190 degrees C. Other processes require the use of special steel autoclaves or use toxic sulphur tetrafluoride; the above requires normal temps and atmospheric pressure.
