1469907 Bis - (2 - pyridyl - 1 - oxide)disulphide OLIN CORP 8 April 1975 [2 May 1974] 14396/75 Heading C2C A method of preparing bis-(2-pyridyl-1-oxide) disulphide comprises oxidizing 2-chloropyridine with permaleic acid to form a reaction mixture containing 2-chloropyridine-1-oxide, mercaptizing the 2-chloropyridine-1-oxide using an alkali metal sulphide or alkali metal hydrosulphide to form the alkali metal salt of 2-mercaptopyridine-1-oxide in solution, adjusting the pH of the solution to a pH of 4 to 5 and then oxidizing with hydrogen peroxide to form the bis-(2- pyridyl-1-oxide) disulphide.
