Abstract

985,985. Hair-waving appliances. H. DESSANGE, and C. DESSANGE. March 30, 1961 [April 1, 1960], No. 11794/61. Heading A4V. [Also in Division D1] The round arm of a tongs for the application of heat and vapour in setting and otherwise treating hair, comprises a sheath 2 carrying a container 3 for hairtreating liquid which is vapourized by electric resistances 5, and passes through apertures 16 to the hair. The resistances 5 are connected by wires 6, passing through the tongs handle 7, to a junction box 8 which is connectible to a casing 9 having a switch and enclosing a transformer. The handle 10 of the casing forms a holder for the tongs. The container 3 houses a closely coiled spring 4 which encloses a cylindrical asbestos wick having a bore 12 which receives a spring 18 secured to a sleeve 13, screw-threaded for engagement in the sheath and having a filling port 20. To charge the container with treating liquid the port 20 is fitted over a plunger 21 and pressed to depress the plunger in a cylinder 25 which has a tube 26 dipping into treating liquid in a bottle 27. The liquid flows into the bore 12 to impregnate the wick when a ball 29 is raised on withdrawal of the plunger.
