Abstract
Phenyl-substituted pyrido-1,4-benzodiazepines of the formula < IMAGE > in which Ar are 2-, 3- or 4-pyridinyl, 2- or 3-thienyl, phenyl or substituted phenyl radicals R is hydrogen, a lower alkyl group or an alkyl group having an amino group at the end of the hydrocarbon chain Z can denote hydrogen, halogen, trifluoromethyl, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, hydroxyl or nitro groups and Y is hydrogen, a lower alkyl radical or a hydroxyl radical and their pharmaceutically tolerable salts. They are prepared via 2-(aminopyridinyl)aminophenylaryl-methanones. The compounds according to the invention, like the arylmethanones also passed through in their preparation, are active antidepressive agents which can be used in appropriate pharmaceutical compositions.
