Abstract

A composition comprises, by weight, 20- 80% of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and 1-50% of sodium silicate in the form of waterglass with optionally from 0-50% of a phosphoric salt and 0-50% of an alkali metal salt which does not contain phosphorus. Specified optional salts are sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium sulphate, NaCl and KCl. The composition has increased solubility rate in water with respect to CMC on its own, and has utility as a suspension agent, particularly in detergents.
