Abstract
Procedimiento para la producción de la 6-alfa-metil-17-alfa-hidroxiprogesterona y de ésteres de la misma que presentan actividad progestativa más elevada que la de la progesteronatanto en administración subcutánea como oralde fórmula general **(Ver fórmula)** en la que R está seleccionado del grupo consistente en hidrógeno y radicales acilo derivados de ácidos carboxílicos alifáticos y cicloalifáticos que contienen hastae incluso 9 átomos de carbonocuyo procedimiento comprende transformar Δ5-pregnen-17-alra-ol-320-diona-bis-etilenglicolcetalo Δ5-pregnen-3-beta17-alfa-diol-20-ona-etilenglicolcetalen una mezcla de alfa- y beta-56-epóxidosseparar los 5-alfa-6-alfa-epóxidos transformar dichos epóxidos de la 6-beta-metil-alepregnan-5-alfa17-alfa-diol-320-diona y en la 6-beta-metil-alopregnan-3-beta5-alfa17-alfa-triol-20-ona respectivamentey transformar estos compuestos en la 6-alfa-metil-17-alfa-hidroxiprogesterona y sus ésteres.
