Improvements in vibratory road rollers, characterized in that they comprise a frame with a roller and a vibratory shaft by means of which the roller is vibrated and this, and its vibratory shaft are resiliently supported in the frame of the machine, and means for driving the roller comprising a chain transmission that connects a driving toothed wheel mounted on the frame and a driven sprocket that drives the roller and, in addition, by having two tensioning wheels each fitted with a branch of the chain, between the wheels toothed, and pushed by resilient means to be capable of independent movement in a suitable direction to compensate for laxity in the chain-free branches, which occurs when the driving direction of the roller is reversed, and in addition, to allow vibration of the wheel serrated driven with respect to the driving sprocket.
