Abstract

890,152. Rollers. RICHIER S. A. April 21, 1958 [May 3, 1957 ; May 25, 1957 ; Feb. 14, 1958], No. 12529/58. Class 6(1). A vibrating roller is provided with transmission members for vibrating and rotatably driving the vibrating cylinder 9 which are grouped on one side of the roller to enable the other side of the roller to be used for rolling close to a vertical surface. As shown a motor 1 is mounted transversely in the toller frame and one end of the motor drive shaft drives a vibratory shaft 4 by means of a belt transmission 3. The other end of the motor shaft drives a shaft 14 through a reversing gearbox 5 the shaft 14 rotating the cylinder 9 by means of belt or chain gearing 7 or gear wheels (not shown) mounted in a casing 6 mounted fast with the bearing 11 of the cylinder 9 and located between shock absorbing pads 12. The cylinder 9 may be fitted with a cylindrical metal tyre or a member of spaced pneumatic tyres.
