Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method of manufacturing decorative pieces. It relates more particularly to a method of manufacturing a decorative piece comprising a conductive aesthetic element embedded in a support made of an electrically non-conductive material.
- the manufacturing process includes, following the inlay step, an electrochemical surface treatment step of the embedded elements.
- Another method described in document EP 2 315 673 consists of pressing the aesthetic elements into recesses in the recesses made in the support.
- This document more specifically describes a inlay process by hot pressing of an aesthetic element made of amorphous metallic material within a ceramic support to form, for example, indices on a watch bezel.
- the advantage of this process is that it is simple to carry out, very reproducible and compatible with most media. Inlaying different materials allows you to combine several colors and endings. However, the cost price of such parts is extremely high and the termination is often determined by the material used with a matt finish for materials such as rubber and a satin finish for metals. In addition, the achievable color palette is often limited or requires a very long development.
- the object of the present invention is to propose a new method for manufacturing a decorative piece making it possible to widen the range of colors and terminations achievable while reducing the manufacturing cost.
- the present invention provides a manufacturing method combining the advantages of the incrustation method by pressing an element within a support with the advantages of surface treatment by electrochemical means making it possible to modulate the colors and feasible terminations and form a protective layer on the encrusted element.
- the present invention relates more particularly to the encrustation of conductive elements within supports made of an electrically non-conductive material such as ceramic. Therefore, the inventive nature of the invention lies in the production of contact points which are not visible but accessible on the support to bring the current to each embedded element.
- the support comprises at least one recess intended to be filled by inlaying with an aesthetic element, said at least recess opens in one or more places on one side of the part intended to be invisible, to respectively form one or more contact points making it possible to convey current during the surface treatment on the aesthetic element. Thanks to these non-visible contact points, it is possible to bring current to fine and numerous decors such as on a tachymeter scale of a watch bezel. Depending on the treatment, a wide range of colors and even color gradations can be obtained on these decorations. These contact points make it possible to carry out the same electrochemical treatment for each decoration or possibly to combine different treatments by bringing the current to only one or more of the sets for each electrochemical treatment.
- This electrochemical treatment is carried out on the decorations encrusted in their final surface condition: polished, satin, sanded and therefore at the end of the manufacturing process.
- FIG. 1 shows in plan a decorative piece, and more precisely, a watch bezel comprising inlaid indices and treated electrochemically with the manufacturing process according to the invention.
- Figure 2 shows a partial sectional view of the same decorative piece.
- Figures 3 to 5 schematically represent the steps of inlaying the preform in the support.
- FIG. 6A represents a view of the front face, that is to say of the visible face, of the bezel encrusted with several aesthetic elements, as well as a sectional view focused on an aesthetic element.
- FIG. 6B represents a view of the rear face of this same telescope.
- FIG. 7A represents a three-dimensional view of a watch case comprising on the middle a recess communicating with the bar hole.
- FIG. 7B represents this same watch case comprising an aesthetic element embedded in the recess.
- Figure 7C shows this same watch case including the aesthetic element embedded in the recess and set with stones.
- the present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a decorative piece comprising a step of inlaying by hot pressing of one or more aesthetic elements in a support provided with one or more recesses and comprising a treatment step electrochemically surface of said aesthetic elements. It also relates to the decorative piece resulting from the process.
- the piece may in particular be a component for covering watchmaking such as a bezel, a dial, a case, a crown, a push-piece, a crystal, a bracelet element, etc.
- the part 1 is a watch bezel comprising an annular body forming the support 2 provided with recesses 4 provided in said support 2 to receive the aesthetic elements 3 forming the indices.
- the part 1 is a middle part of a watch case 5 provided with two recesses 4 each inlaid with an aesthetic element 3 set with stones 6.
- the support is made of an electrically non-conductive material such as ceramic, enamel, sapphire, etc.
- the aesthetic element is made of an electrically conductive material such as a crystalline or amorphous metal alloy.
- it may be an aluminum alloy, titanium or even precious metals such as gold alloys or platinoid alloys.
- the part may consist of a zirconia watch bezel with indices produced in a crystalline aluminum alloy.
- the support 2 comprises at least one recess 4 produced by laser engraving, by machining, etc.
- the recess 4 has on the surface 2a of the support 2 intended to be visible a shape 4a corresponding to the outline of the desired decoration (FIG. 2).
- at least one of the recesses opens onto a non-visible face 2b of the support 2.
- the entire volume of the recess 4 is filled with the aesthetic element 3 protruding or flush with the surface 2a of the support 2.
- the aesthetic element only partially fills the volume of the recess.
- the aesthetic elements are embedded by hot pressing in the recesses of the support.
- the pressing temperature is variable depending on the material embedded.
- the incrustation is carried out at a temperature between the solidus temperature and the liquidus temperature of the alloy constituting the aesthetic element.
- the incrustation is carried out at a temperature between the glass transition temperature Tg and the crystallization temperature Tx of the alloy.
- the pressure is adapted according to the material.
- the applied load can be between 300 and 1000 kg.
- the inlay takes place in a similar manner to that which is described in the document EP 2 315 673. More specifically, the inlay steps of the manufacturing process according to the invention are illustrated diagrammatically with the aid of FIGS.
- the support 2 provided with the recesses 4 as well as the preform (s) intended to form the aesthetic element (s) 3 are made available (fig. 3).
- the aesthetic element to be inlaid is in the form of an annular preform with a diameter and a ring width of dimensions substantially equivalent to those of the indices.
- the preform 3 is placed on the surface 2a of the support 2 at the level of the recess 4.
- the assembly is placed in a press and the inlaying under pressure P is carried out in the above-mentioned temperature ranges where the material is softened (fig. .4).
- the step of encrusting the alloy in the recesses is then followed by a cooling step and a possible step of mechanical rectification of the upper surface 2a and of the aesthetic element 3 such as a polishing allowing 'remove the surplus from the aesthetic element 3 (fig.5) and make visible surfaces of the support and the aesthetic element connected to each other without a solution of continuity.
- This finishing treatment consists of a selective electrochemical treatment of the embedded metallic material aiming to modify the appearance and / or the hardness of this material. It can be anodization with or without coloring, the deposit of a precious metal such as silver, gold, rhodium, platinum, etc. It is thus possible to encrust an aluminum alloy at a lower cost and then to make it hard with anodization or else to encrust a conductive material at a lower cost then to produce a plating of precious metals.
- the supports targeted by the present invention being electrically non-conductive, the difficulty resides in the routing of the current to the aesthetic elements during the electrochemical treatment and, this, via contact points which must not be visible on the decorative piece.
- one or more of the recesses are configured to lead to a face intended to be invisible from the decorative piece.
- These recesses opening onto the non-visible face form as many contact points making it possible to bring the current to the embedded aesthetic elements.
- the recess 4 for each of the indices opens onto the rear face 2b of the bezel 1 as illustrated in FIG. 2.
- the contact points 4b allow to bring the current on each of the indices during the electrochemical treatment.
- the aesthetic element 3 is larger, as in the examples in FIGS. 6A and 7B, several contact points per aesthetic element may be required to ensure uniform electrochemical treatment of the aesthetic element.
- FIG. 6A by way of example, three aesthetic elements 3 are distributed over an annular portion of the visible face 2a of the telescope 1. In this configuration, the aesthetic elements
- FIGS. 7B and 7C represent another configuration of an aesthetic element embedded in a recess formed in a support.
- the inlaid aesthetic element 3 extends to a horn 5a of the case middle watch 5 and has a plurality of housings 3a for setting stones 6 in a subsequent operation, which is particularly advantageous for decorating watch cases made of materials which are not very ductile like ceramic.
- the recess receiving the aesthetic element opens at least at one location on a non-visible face of the watch case. It is thus conceivable that the recess 4 communicates with the bar hole 7 as illustrated in FIG. 7A. Of course, the recess 4 can communicate in several places through other through orifices making it possible to produce contact points bringing the current to the aesthetic element 3.
- the present invention thus makes it possible, thanks to the electrical contact point (s) formed on an invisible side of the watch case to electrochemically treat the aesthetic element after crimping with the stones.
- the present invention has been more specifically illustrated for a decorative piece in watchmaking, but it goes without saying that the method according to the invention applies to the production of decorative pieces in many other fields such as jewelry, telephony, automobile, etc.

PROCEDE DE FABRICATION DE PI ECES DECORATIVES PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING DECORATIVE PIECES
DOMAINE TECHNIQUE TECHNICAL AREA
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing decorative pieces. It relates more particularly to a method of manufacturing a decorative piece comprising a conductive aesthetic element embedded in a support made of an electrically non-conductive material. The manufacturing process includes, following the inlay step, an electrochemical surface treatment step of the embedded elements.
ART ANTERIEUR PRIOR ART
It is known to decorate clockwork components with aesthetic elements. There are, for example, watch glasses decorated with patterns such as indices. These glasses, usually made of ceramic, can be marked in different ways and with different materials such as gold, silver or platinum. Said marking can be carried out in relief or in depth. In the case of deep marking, this is carried out by filling recesses previously machined in the support. The principle used to carry out this marking consists in depositing a conductive bonding layer by physical vapor deposition (PVD). Once the bonding layer has been deposited, the recesses are filled with metal by electroforming. This process has the disadvantages of being complex and extremely slow.
Another method described in document EP 2 315 673 consists of pressing the aesthetic elements into recesses in the recesses made in the support. This document more specifically describes a inlay process by hot pressing of an aesthetic element made of amorphous metallic material within a ceramic support to form, for example, indices on a watch bezel. The advantage of this process is that it is simple to carry out, very reproducible and compatible with most media. Inlaying different materials allows you to combine several colors and endings. However, the cost price of such parts is extremely high and the termination is often determined by the material used with a matt finish for materials such as rubber and a satin finish for metals. In addition, the achievable color palette is often limited or requires a very long development.
RESUME DE L'INVENTION SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The object of the present invention is to propose a new method for manufacturing a decorative piece making it possible to widen the range of colors and terminations achievable while reducing the manufacturing cost.
To this end, the present invention provides a manufacturing method combining the advantages of the incrustation method by pressing an element within a support with the advantages of surface treatment by electrochemical means making it possible to modulate the colors and feasible terminations and form a protective layer on the encrusted element.
The present invention relates more particularly to the encrustation of conductive elements within supports made of an electrically non-conductive material such as ceramic. Therefore, the inventive nature of the invention lies in the production of contact points which are not visible but accessible on the support to bring the current to each embedded element.
To do this, the support comprises at least one recess intended to be filled by inlaying with an aesthetic element, said at least recess opens in one or more places on one side of the part intended to be invisible, to respectively form one or more contact points making it possible to convey current during the surface treatment on the aesthetic element. It is also possible to embed an element made of a material at a lower cost and then to make it hard by anodization in the case of aluminum. It is also possible to embed an element made of a metallic material at a lower cost, then to deposit precious metals. The quantity of precious metals used is thus minimal and there is no waste of material.
This electrochemical treatment is carried out on the decorations encrusted in their final surface condition: polished, satin, sanded and therefore at the end of the manufacturing process.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a decorative piece comprising a step of inlaying by hot pressing of one or more aesthetic elements in a support provided with one or more recesses and comprising a treatment step electrochemically surface of said aesthetic elements. It also relates to the decorative piece resulting from the process. The piece may in particular be a component for covering watchmaking such as a bezel, a dial, a case, a crown, a push-piece, a crystal, a bracelet element, etc. By way of example illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, the part 1 is a watch bezel comprising an annular body forming the support 2 provided with recesses 4 provided in said support 2 to receive the aesthetic elements 3 forming the indices. As another example illustrated in FIGS. 7A to 7C, the part 1 is a middle part of a watch case 5 provided with two recesses 4 each inlaid with an aesthetic element 3 set with stones 6. According to the invention, the support is made of an electrically non-conductive material such as ceramic, enamel, sapphire, etc. The aesthetic element is made of an electrically conductive material such as a crystalline or amorphous metal alloy. For example, it may be an aluminum alloy, titanium or even precious metals such as gold alloys or platinoid alloys. Thus, again by way of example, the part may consist of a zirconia watch bezel with indices produced in a crystalline aluminum alloy.
The support 2 comprises at least one recess 4 produced by laser engraving, by machining, etc. The recess 4 has on the surface 2a of the support 2 intended to be visible a shape 4a corresponding to the outline of the desired decoration (FIG. 2). According to the invention, at least one of the recesses opens onto a non-visible face 2b of the support 2. Advantageously, the entire volume of the recess 4 is filled with the aesthetic element 3 protruding or flush with the surface 2a of the support 2. Alternatively, it is also conceivable that the aesthetic element only partially fills the volume of the recess.
According to the invention, the aesthetic elements are embedded by hot pressing in the recesses of the support. The pressing temperature is variable depending on the material embedded. For example, for a crystalline metal alloy, the incrustation is carried out at a temperature between the solidus temperature and the liquidus temperature of the alloy constituting the aesthetic element. For an amorphous metal alloy, the incrustation is carried out at a temperature between the glass transition temperature Tg and the crystallization temperature Tx of the alloy. Likewise, the pressure is adapted according to the material. For example, the applied load can be between 300 and 1000 kg. The inlay takes place in a similar manner to that which is described in the document EP 2 315 673. More specifically, the inlay steps of the manufacturing process according to the invention are illustrated diagrammatically with the aid of FIGS. 3 to 5. First of all, the support 2 provided with the recesses 4 as well as the preform (s) intended to form the aesthetic element (s) 3 are made available (fig. 3). In the case of a watch bezel to be decorated with indices, the aesthetic element to be inlaid is in the form of an annular preform with a diameter and a ring width of dimensions substantially equivalent to those of the indices. The preform 3 is placed on the surface 2a of the support 2 at the level of the recess 4. The assembly is placed in a press and the inlaying under pressure P is carried out in the above-mentioned temperature ranges where the material is softened (fig. .4). The step of encrusting the alloy in the recesses is then followed by a cooling step and a possible step of mechanical rectification of the upper surface 2a and of the aesthetic element 3 such as a polishing allowing 'remove the surplus from the aesthetic element 3 (fig.5) and make visible surfaces of the support and the aesthetic element connected to each other without a solution of continuity.
For example, in the case of an inlay of the metal alloy of aluminum 7075 in a support based on zirconia. The preform was heated to 550 ° C for 90 seconds and pressed under a load of the order of 750 kg.
Ces points de contact 4b sur la face arrière 2b du supportAfter the incrustation step and the possible mechanical rectification step, the aesthetic element is subjected to a finishing treatment. This finishing treatment consists of a selective electrochemical treatment of the embedded metallic material aiming to modify the appearance and / or the hardness of this material. The supports targeted by the present invention being electrically non-conductive, the difficulty resides in the routing of the current to the aesthetic elements during the electrochemical treatment and, this, via contact points which must not be visible on the decorative piece. To this end, one or more of the recesses are configured to lead to a face intended to be invisible from the decorative piece. These recesses opening onto the non-visible face form as many contact points making it possible to bring the current to the embedded aesthetic elements. Returning to the example of the ceramic watch bezel comprising metal indices produced by inlay, the recess 4 for each of the indices opens onto the rear face 2b of the bezel 1 as illustrated in FIG. 2. The contact points 4b allow to bring the current on each of the indices during the electrochemical treatment. These contact points 4b on the rear face 2b of the support
2 can have a section which is less than that of the part 4a of the recess opening onto the visible face 2a of the support 2. These contact points make it possible to carry out the same electrochemical treatment for each index or possibly to combine different treatments by bringing the running on only one or more of the indices for each electrochemical treatment.
Dans cette configuration, les éléments esthétiques If the aesthetic element 3 is larger, as in the examples in FIGS. 6A and 7B, several contact points per aesthetic element may be required to ensure uniform electrochemical treatment of the aesthetic element. In FIG. 6A, by way of example, three aesthetic elements 3 are distributed over an annular portion of the visible face 2a of the telescope 1. In this configuration, the aesthetic elements
3 are embedded on the substrate 2 including the indicia made of a non-conductive material. On its rear face 2b visible in FIG. 6B, the telescope 1 is provided with several orifices 4b communicating with the recesses 4 to produce the contact points making it possible to bring the current to these three elements. As shown in FIG. 6A in the sectional view, two contact points 4b are provided per aesthetic element 3. FIGS. 7B and 7C represent another configuration of an aesthetic element embedded in a recess formed in a support. The inlaid aesthetic element 3 extends to a horn 5a of the case middle watch 5 and has a plurality of housings 3a for setting stones 6 in a subsequent operation, which is particularly advantageous for decorating watch cases made of materials which are not very ductile like ceramic. Similarly to the other examples, the recess receiving the aesthetic element opens at least at one location on a non-visible face of the watch case. It is thus conceivable that the recess 4 communicates with the bar hole 7 as illustrated in FIG. 7A. Of course, the recess 4 can communicate in several places through other through orifices making it possible to produce contact points bringing the current to the aesthetic element 3. The present invention thus makes it possible, thanks to the electrical contact point (s) formed on an invisible side of the watch case to electrochemically treat the aesthetic element after crimping with the stones.
The present invention has been more specifically illustrated for a decorative piece in watchmaking, but it goes without saying that the method according to the invention applies to the production of decorative pieces in many other fields such as jewelry, telephony, automobile, etc.
