Abstract

A package, especially a cigarette package, comprising a package part (14) and a lid (15), is provided with an inner part, namely an inner package (13) which, in its upper portion, is configured as a collar, and in its lower portion forms the bottom wall of the package. The package is thus two-part and consists of the outer package (12) and the inner package (13). These package parts can be combined by fitting them into each other, thereby allowing for a continuous course of manufacture.

The invention relates to a pack, in particular a cigarette pack, consisting of a box part and a cover pivotally connected to it.

Packs with a hinged lid are known primarily as a classic hinge lid pack. This consists of a lower box part, a lid that is pivotally connected to the box part in the area of the box rear wall and lid rear wall and a collar, which consists of a separate cut, is anchored in the box part and partially protrudes therefrom. The hinged box designed in this way consists of thin cardboard.

The construction and manufacture of this type of pack are complex. In particular, a continuous manufacturing or folding process in industrial manufacturing is difficult.

The object of the invention is to present a new type of package with a hinged lid, which has a technically simple but functional structure and, moreover, can be manufactured industrially in a simple manner.

To achieve this object, the pack according to the invention is characterized by the following features:

a) an outer package consists of a box part and a lid,

b) the box part has (only) one box front wall, one box back wall and two opposite box side walls,

c) in the outer pack, an insert consisting of a separate blank or an inner pack is arranged, which has at least one upright, lying against a wall of the box part and at least one bottom tab to form a bottom wall of the pack. The pack according to the invention accordingly consists of two pack parts, each from a separate blank, in particular from thin cardboard. These pack parts are folded or prepared separately and then brought together or pushed into one another and connected to one another (by glue). The structural design of the pack parts is chosen so that the outer pack forms the lid with the end wall and the box part, but is open in the area of the bottom wall. This is formed by the inner packing, which preferably has a plurality of folding tabs, namely (interconnected) bottom tabs for a closed bottom wall. This is flush with the lower end of the outer pack.

The inner pack is preferably designed such that an upper part protrudes from the box part and takes over the function of a collar.

A special feature is the design of the pack according to the invention with an articulated line for the lid in the region of a narrow side wall. This also leads to a special design of the collar or the inner packing and the lid.

The package designed in the sense of the invention can be manufactured efficiently, in particular in accordance with the specifications of WO 03/045783.

The exemplary embodiments shown in the drawings deal with cigarette packs. These have a cuboid structure corresponding to the pack content, namely a cigarette group which is surrounded by an inner blank 10 made of paper or tin foil and thus forms a cuboid block of cigarettes as pack content.

The pack is a hinged lid pack, especially made of thin cardboard. In the basic structure, the pack consists of an outer part, namely an outer pack 12 and an inner pack part, ie an inner pack 13. Each pack part 12, 13 consists of a separate blank, namely according to FIG. 4 for the outer pack 12 and according to FIG. 5 for the inner pack 13.

The outer pack 12 forms a (lower) box part 14 and an (upper) lid 15. Box part 14 and lid 15 are pivotally connected to one another.

The blank for the outer pack 12 is constructed according to the folding principle of the cross wrap. According to this, cut areas are defined next to one another for box front wall 16, box rear wall 17, side wall 18, 19 and connecting tabs 20. The (narrow) box side wall 18 is positioned between box front wall 16 and box rear wall 17. The box side wall 19 is arranged on the edge of the box front wall 19 and is involved in the sleeve-shaped folding of the blank

2005009624 the connecting tab 20 on the opposite side of the blank, namely on the edge of the box rear wall 17, connected by means of glue.

The lid 15 is part of this one-piece blank for the outer pack 12. The lid 15 therefore consists in an analogous manner of the lid front wall 21, lid rear wall 22, lid side walls 23, 24 and lid connecting tabs 25. The walls 21, 22, 23 of the lid 15 are delimited from the corresponding walls of the box part 14 by a weakening line, namely by punched lines 26 and residual connections 27. In the area of the box side wall 19 and the lid side wall 24 as well as the connecting tab 20 and the lid connecting tab 25 a transverse embossing is provided, which forms a line joint 28 between box part 14 and cover 15.

The special feature of the pack is that both parts of the pack, namely outer pack 12 and inner pack 13, are or remain open on one side. In the exemplary embodiments shown, the outer pack 12 is designed without a bottom, that is to say open on the bottom side. On the other hand, the outer pack 12 forms a closed end wall 29 of the cover 15. This consists of two end flaps 30, 31 which are attached to the cover front wall 21 or to the cover rear wall 22. In the finished pack, there is mutual overlap and connection (by glue) of the front flaps 30, 31 with one another.

The inner pack 13 or its cut (FIG. 5) consists of the inner front wall 32, the inner rear wall 33 and the inner side wall 34, the latter in the arrangement between the inner front wall 32 and the inner rear wall 33. The inner pack 13 formed therefrom inside the outer pack 12 - is open at the top, namely to the cover 15, on the other hand forms a bottom wall 35 of the pack. For this purpose, bottom tabs 36, 37, 38 are provided, which are connected to the walls 32, 33, 34. The bottom flap 38 is a corner flap which lies on the inside on the overlapping bottom flaps 36, 37 (FIG. 3).

A special feature is that the inner pack 13 has only one side wall 34. This faces the box side wall 18 or lid side wall 23 within the finished package (FIG. 2), ie it lies in the region of the single-layer side wall of the outer package. The inner packing 13 is facing the opposite side wall 19, 24 open, so that there is a U-shaped insert in cross section. As a result, all sides of the package are formed in two layers (Fig. 3). The bottom wall 35 is flush with the lower edge of the (open) outer pack 12.

The inner pack 13 takes over the function of a collar which is customary in folding boxes. It is an upper part of the inner pack 13 which protrudes from the box part 14 and is enclosed by the lid 15 when the lid is closed (FIG. 3). For this purpose, the blank for the inner pack 13 is provided with a contour of the collar which is customary in conventional folding boxes, namely with a recess 39 which is delimited by a curved, upper blank edge 40. In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 7, the inner packing 13 is positioned in the outer packing 12 such that the depression 39 extends in the region of the side wall 18 opposite the linear joint 28. The recess 39 is dimensioned such that the side wall 18 and adjoining partial areas are covered by the front wall 16 and rear wall 17. This creates a recess on the edge, in the area of which the pack contents, namely the cigarette block 11, are exposed. Access to the cigarettes is also possible in this area if the inner blank 10 is partially removed. This has an end fold 41 with perforation 42 to create a detachable opening tab. The perforation 42 consists of a transverse, an upright and a horizontal area (Fig. 3.).

The package according to FIGS. 1 to 7 is opened via its narrow side, namely via the lid side wall 23. The punching lines 26 in the region of the front wall 16, 21 and rear wall 17, 22 are directed obliquely upwards to the linear joint 28. The front walls 16 , 21 and the rear walls 17, 22 are accordingly trapezoidal with oblique closing edges.

When the package is opened for the first time, the remaining connections 27 in the region of the side wall 18, 23 and in the region of the front wall 16, 21 or rear wall 17, 22 must be severed. The arrangement is such that a residual connection 27 (approximately) is arranged in the middle between the box side wall 18 and the lid side wall 23. Another remaining connection is provided in the area of the front and rear.

2005009624 The part of the inner packing 13 protruding from the box part 14, that is to say functionally the collar, is provided with a closing aid. In the region of the upright collar edges 43, tongues 44 are formed which are formed by C- or U-shaped punchings. After the blank for the inner pack 13 has been folded, they continue along the collar edges 43 in the plane of the walls 32, 33 and accordingly project beyond the transverse inner side wall 34. In the closed position of the lid 15, these tongues 44 rest as a closing aid on the inside of the lid side wall 23 (FIG. 3).

To create a unit consisting of outer pack 12 and inner pack 13, these are connected to one another, in the illustrated embodiment by gluing. The inner pack 13 is provided in the lower region of the inner front wall 32 and inner rear wall 33 with (two) glue points 45, which are connected to the inside of the outer pack 12.

The pack according to FIGS. 8 to 13 is an example of the structure of a classic hinged box. A line hinge 46 is arranged in the area between the box rear wall 17 and the lid rear wall 22. The line of weakness between box part 14 and lid 15 of outer pack 12 extends with precisely transverse punching lines 26 in the region between box front wall 16 and lid front wall 21. On box side wall 18 or lid side wall 23 on the one hand and box side wall 19 and the cover side wall 24 are each provided with obliquely directed legs of the weakening line with (two) punched lines 26 and a residual connection 27. This design is repeated in the area of the connecting tab 20 and the lid connecting tab 25 such that the weakening lines in this area coincide with the weakening lines in the area of the walls 19, 24 when the outer pack 12 is in the tubular (intermediate) folded position (FIG . 12) receives. Otherwise, the cut for the outer pack according to the exemplary embodiment in FIGS. 10 and 12 corresponds to the exemplary embodiment described above.

The inner pack 13 is formed in a special way, which, viewed in cross section, comprises the pack contents on three sides, namely with an inner front wall 46 and two inner side walls 47, 48. In the complete pack (FIG. 8, FIG. 9 ) the inner front wall 46 abuts the box front wall 16 and is connected to it by glue points 49. At the top is the inner pack 13 according to FIG. 9 with the Provide recess 39, which corresponds to a conventional hinged box. The recess 39 is positioned centrally to the front of the pack. Locking aids, namely tongues 44, are arranged in the same or analogous manner in the area of the upright collar edges 43, however with the consequence that these tongues 44 rest against the inside of the lid front wall 21 when the lid 15 is closed.

The bottom wall 35 is designed in a special way in this type of pack. On the inner front wall 46 there is a bottom tab 50 extending over its full width. This is assigned inside corner flaps 51, 52, each in extension of the inner side walls 47, 48. The corner flaps 51, 52 rest on the inside of the bottom flap 50 when the bottom wall is folded.

On the free side, the bottom tab 50 is provided with a connecting tab 53. This is folded into an upright position and lies against the inside of the box rear wall 17. With the help of glue dots 54, the connection tab 53 is fastened to the box rear wall 17, so that an overall stable packaging construction is provided.

When manufacturing packs of the described design, the procedure is expediently such that the outer pack 12 is partially prefabricated, in particular in a cardboard box factory. The blank of the outer pack 12 is brought into a sleeve-shaped folded position by connecting the tabs 20, 25 to the side walls 19, 24. In this sleeve-shaped folded position, the outer pack 12 can be folded flat and fed to a packaging machine. The outer pack 12 is then erected in its area. The contents of the pack (inner pack 13) can be introduced in particular via the (upper) end face.

A unit comprising the contents of the pack (cigarette block 11) and inner pack 13 is prepared separately in the packaging machine. This is folded in a U shape around the cigarette block 11 with subsequent production of the bottom wall 35 by folding the bottom flaps 36, 37, 38; 50, 51, 52 and connecting the bottom tabs with glue. This unit is then inserted into the outer pack 12 and connected to it. The front flaps 30, 31 are then folded and connected to one another. The finished
