Abstract

522,469. Containers for cigarettes, crayons &c. CHALMERS, J. W., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Oct. 12, 1938, Nos. 29533/38 and 14463/39. [Class 18] A container of oblong rectilinear cross-section for rodshaped articles, e.g., cigarettes or crayons, having an inner member, e.g., the slide of a slide and shell container which includes a main panel, has blocking means formed from or connected with the inner member for reducing the crosssectional area of the container to suit it for a less number of cigarettes than the maximum. In Fig. 5 the side flaps 17 hinge about the dotted line 17<SP>1</SP> while panels 28, 29 may, if desired, be provided to form a partition. Fig. 8 shows the slide of a slide and shell container, the blocking means consisting of panels 41 hinging about lines 47. Alternating panels 17 may form the blocking means as in Fig. 5. In another alternative, the form shown in Fig.' 5 may have the blocking means shown in Fig. 8. In a further form the means in Fig. 8 is modified by providing a crease instead of a slit at 49 and by providing a third crease between 47 and 49 so that a block is formed on each side of the container.
