Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a self-inflating mat or pillow with the features of the preamble of claim 1.
  • Mats with light fabric and precoating with solvent made of PU and at least 2 coating layers, usually made of PU films, are known, the external coating layer being designed as a low-melting adhesive system (US Pat. No. 4,624,877). These mats consist of two layers of this coated fabric between which a light foam is glued in, the edges of the coated fabric being welded. This airtight mat is then inflated through a valve. The maximum thickness of the mat is limited by the gluing of the foam. When the valve is closed, this mat is very pressure-stable and has good insulation properties, despite the low foam thickness. That is why it is relatively light and is very popular with hikers and mountaineers. It is very comfortable.
  • Coatings then easily absorb dirt and water, whereby they are difficult to clean.
  • the object of the present invention is to create a self-inflating lying mat which overcomes the disadvantages described by proposing a new fabric, coating and foam connection construction.
  • a self-inflating lying mat or pillow made of open-cell foam covered airtightly on both sides by outer layers of a fabric, the outer layers being welded on the edges and at least one valve for connecting the foam to the ambient atmosphere, characterized in that at least on at least one side there is a layer of a woven or knitted fabric and that the woven fabric or consists of a hot-pressed yarn coated with a thermoplastic plastic. The yarn is coated before weaving. The fabric is then calendered, for example.
  • the fabric is coated with a film which has a lower melting point than the thermoplastic and / or the fabric.
  • the fabric can be coated with at least two foils with different melting points, one outer Foil coating has a lower melting point than an inner foil coating.
  • the film can be coated by thermal lamination or by using a slot die.
  • a coated fabric which is woven or knitted from yarns that have not been twisted at all, or twisted little, coextruded with thermoplastics, and flattened in a kind of ironing process, so that a thin, thoroughly coated fabric is produced that is already tight with very little coating material is and is still extremely thin.
  • the adhesion of the coating corresponds almost to the material strength of the coating material, without damaging the fabric through adhesion promoters or solvents.
  • This coated fabric is now coated with none or with at least one or two foils.
  • the first coating serves as an airtight layer.
  • the inner layer serves as an adhesive layer for foam.
  • the ironed and calendered fabric is already airtight, so that it only needs a lower melting adhesive layer.
  • the ironed and calendered fabric is already airtight and the coating composition is dimensioned such that it serves as an adhesive layer for the foam. This is possible because the foam with its lattice structure cannot penetrate through the fabric during the thermal bonding process.
  • Coating has a good friction effect in relation to the sleeping bag, so that the camper no longer slides so easily on sloping terrain.
  • the mat cannot absorb water, or does not have to be made water-repellent with environmentally harmful fluorocarbon coatings.
  • the mat can be cleaned very well, which is not least of advantage in the medical field.
  • additional appations can be welded onto the outside without this To make the total weight of the mat heavier with a conventional second coating.
  • the fabric can be chosen more easily, since it is not weakened by solvents or adhesion promoters, the puncture resistance and the kink resistance of the composite and thus the stability of the mat increases, since fabrics which traditionally have poor tear resistance with solvent-based precoatings.
  • thermoplastic and the yarn are advantageously made flame-retardant.
  • Two mats can be connected by a welded profile.
  • the fabric consists, for example, of quartz yarn, aramid fiber or modified polyester, such as Vektran. High-strength yarns which are difficult to glue per se can be used.
