Definitions
- the invention relates to electrical connection terminals.
- terminals that include a threaded rod in which is formed a radial channel crossing it right through, this channel being designed to receive the stripped end of the electrical cable to be connected, a nut being engaged on the threaded rod of the screw to immobilize by tightening the stripped end portion received in the radial channel of the screw.
- the invention aims to improve this kind of connection terminal.
- an electrical connection terminal comprising a screw having a threaded rod in which a channel adapted to receive an end portion of an electric cable, and comprising a nut adapted to cooperate with said threaded rod to immobilize by clamping said end portion received in said channel.
- the terminal according to the invention offers increased possibilities of arrangement of the electric cable vis-à-vis the terminal by providing excellent quality support for the end portion of the cable.
- said axial section is coaxial with said threaded rod.
- the cable can be arranged coaxially to the connection terminal and its stripped end portion can come out of the screw through the radial section of the channel and then be surrounded on the outer wall of the screw before being immobilized by tightening by means of the screw.
- the threaded rod has a groove in which opens out from said radial section by its zone furthest from the end free of the threaded rod.
- This groove accommodates the piece of cable that comes out of the section radial of the channel or which enters it, so that the finish is excellent quality, even if the user has stripped the cable a little more large than necessary.
- the radial section opens out out of the threaded rod through a flat.
- This flat avoids the sharp edges which would exist at the intersection between a thread and a cylinder opening transversely, these sharp edges being likely to cut the piece of the cable leaving or re-entering the radial section.
- the screw comprises a shoulder which borders said threaded rod and which is tangent to the part of the lateral surface of the radial section which is furthest from the free end of the threaded rod.
- This shoulder allows to have directly on the screw of the counter surface on which the nut tightens the cable.
- said rod and said nut include captive means to prevent releasing the nut vis-à-vis of the stem.
- these include a member crushed at the free end of said rod.
- said nut includes means for limiting the torque applied to its tapped part.
- these include complementary gadroons formed respectively on a nut body on which the tapped part is formed and on a gasket which forms the side wall of the nut, with said body and said packing which are guided in rotation relative to each other but coupled in rotation by the cooperation of said gadroons, at least one of said bodies and lining being adapted to deform to allow their so-called gadroons to slip on each other when a torque greater than a value is exerted predetermined between the trim and the body.
- said threaded rod and said nut comprise means so that the nut is self-locking on the rod.
- connection terminal which has just been exposed can be used in many areas, for example on loudspeakers and amplifiers of high fidelity channels or so to connect an element luminescent tube terminal to its high power cable voltage.
- the invention also relates to such a tube end element luminescent, provided with means for connection to an electric cable supply comprising a base attached to a closed end of a envelope that comprises said terminal element and a nut terminal installed in said base, characterized in that said nut terminal conforms to the connection terminal described above.
- the assembly shown in FIG. 1 comprises a terminal element 1 of luminescent tube, protective cap 2 and power cable electric 3.
- Element 1 has a glass envelope 4 in the shape of a finger glove with the closed end on the right in figures 1 to 3 and above in the other drawings, connection means 5 to the cable 3, arranged on the closed end of the casing 4, and a metal electrode 6 disposed in the casing 4 and electrically connected to the connection means 5.
- the end closed of the envelope 4 has a portion 7 of general shape hemispherical whose center connects to a member coaxially oriented having a keel 8 projecting from the inner side and a nipple 9 projecting from the external side, the periphery of the hemispherical portion 7 connecting to the rest of the casing 4, which has a tubular shape with a circular section which goes to the opposite end of the enclosure intended to be connected to the rest of the luminescent tube.
- a conducting wire 10 comes out of the closed end of the casing 4 at through nipple 9 while inside this nipple this wire is connected electrically to a thinner wire 11 which goes to the keel 8 inside which it is in turn connected to a third electrical wire 12 which extends from wire 11 up to the electrode 6, to which the other end of the wire 12 is welded.
- connection means 5 comprise an insulating cap 13 and a connection terminal 14 comprising a metal screw 15, a nut 16 and a radial screw hereinafter called threaded pin.
- the base 13 which is here ceramic, has a generally tubular shape with circular section. It is attached by gluing one of its ends to the closed end of the casing 4, with the nipple 9 which is housed in the base 13 and the end of the latter which rests on the hemispherical portion 7.
- the screw 15 has a foot which is received in the base 13 and which receives the end of the conducting wire 10, and a threaded rod which receives the cable 3, the pin 17 serving to immobilize the conductive wire 10 with respect to the screw 15 and the latter with respect to the base 13, the nut 16 used to immobilize the cable 3 opposite screw 15.
- a channel is formed in the threaded rod of the screw 15, this channel having a coaxial section 19 and a radial section 20.
- the cable 3 has been introduced in this channel via the coaxial section 19 to beyond the stripped portion 18, the latter passing through the radial section 20 and surrounding the rod 15, the immobilization having then been carried out by tightening the nut 16.
- the cap 2 comprises a central body 21, a skirt 22 arranged between the body 21 and the end of the cap which can be seen on the left on the Figures 1 to 3 and below on the other drawings as well as a collar 23 disposed between the body 21 and the end that can be seen at the top in the drawings.
- the cap 2 is obtained by molding in a single piece of a flexible and elastic plastic material, here silicone.
- the central body 21 has a generally tubular shape. It has a section 24 with a constant circular section and a frustoconical section 25 connecting on the side of the large diameter to section 24 while on the side of the small diameter it is connected to the neck 23.
- the lip 26 has two concentric annular portions, respectively a portion 28 thinned which directly borders the opening 27, and a thicker portion 29 which is located between the thinned portion 28 and the rest of the neck 23.
- the thinning which exists between the portions 29 and 28 is practiced on the internal side, the surfaces external portions 28 and 29 being flush with each other.
- the skirt 22 has a generally frustoconical shape, which flares out the opposite of the central body 21, its end diameter being slightly more important than that by which it connects to the central body 21.
- the body 21 has a conformation which allows it to accommodate the connection means 5, that the flexibility and elasticity of the skirt 22 allow it to conform to the external surface of the hemispherical portion 7 at the like a suction cup, and so does the flexibility and elasticity of the lip 26 allow it to be tightened on cable 3.
- the cap 2 isolates its content from the outside, in a waterproof way, which makes it possible to protect this content from damage likely to be caused by moisture, which is a source of corrosion and electric arc.
- Figure 8 shows the terminal element 1 and the electrical cable 3 connected to each other in a position where the cable 3 is arranged radially and not coaxially, the cap 2 being replaced by a cap 102 similar, but where the central body 21 is replaced by a central body 121.
- the cap 102 the same reference numbers as for the cap 2, but increased by the number 100.
- the central body 121 of the cap 102 has a portion 124 practically identical to the portion 24 of the body 21 of the cap 2, which is in particular tubular with cylindrical section.
- the 125 portion is similar to portion 25, but it is angled instead of straight, its end which connects to the neck 123 being arranged transversely to its end which connects to section 124, while in portion 25 these two ends are oriented parallel to each other.
- the skirt 122 and the collar 123 are identical to the skirt 22 and to the collar 23, respectively.
- connection operation between element 1 and cable 3 as well as the fitting of the cap 102 are similar to the operations required for make the junction in the configuration of figure 3, but the cable 3 is introduced into the channel of the threaded rod of the screw 15 through the radial section 20 of this and the end of the stripped portion 18 is housed in the coaxial section 19 of this channel.
- the screw 15 includes a threaded rod 30 intended to receive the cable 3 and immobilize it in cooperation with the nut 16, as well as a foot 31 intended to be received in the base 13 and to receive the wire conductor 10 and a portion of pin 17.
- the channel formed in the threaded rod 30 has a section 19 coaxial with the screw 15 and a radial section 20, the sections 19 and 20 connecting to each other.
- the section 19 has, from the free end of the rod 30, a portion of cylindrical shape having a diameter large enough to receive a non-stripped part of the cable 3, as shown in Figure 3, the section 19 having, beyond this cylindrical part, a conical part into which opens the radial section 20, which is cylindrical and of diameter smaller than the cylindrical part of the coaxial section 19, only a part stripped 18 of the cable 3 having to pass through the radial section 20.
- the latter opens, by its zone furthest from the free end of the rod 30, in a groove 32 formed in the rod 30, the groove 32 being provided to accommodate the piece of part 18 of cable 3 which comes out through the section radial 20 (configuration of FIG. 3) or enter it (configuration of the figure 8).
- the section 20 is tangent, by the part of its lateral surface most remote from the free end of the rod 30, to a shoulder 33 which comprises the screw 15, the nut 16 being provided to tighten against the shoulder 33 the piece of part 18 housed in the groove 32, as shown in Figures 3 or 8.
- the rod 30 has a threaded portion 34 which extends only over a certain length from the free end of this rod, the latter having between the shoulder 33 and the threaded part 34 a smooth external surface whose overall diameter is slightly less than the bottom diameter of the portion 34, for reasons of cooperation with the nut 16, explained below.
- the foot 31 of the screw 15 has a generally cylindrical outer shape of diameter slightly greater than the threaded part 34 of the screw 30.
- a hollow 35 of frustoconical shape is managed which converges, from an opening with a diameter slightly smaller than that of the base 31, towards a blind hole oriented coaxially, of much smaller diameter.
- a tapped hole 37, oriented radially, is arranged just below the radial section 20, and extends between the hole 36 and the outside of the foot 31.
- the hole 36 serves to accommodate the end of the conductive wire 10, the tapped hole 37 to receive the threaded pin 17, and the hollow 35 is used to guide the end of the wire 10 towards the hole 36 and to receive the end of the nipple 9.
- a small parallelepipedic notch 38 is formed under the orifice outlet from the tapped hole 37. It is designed to cooperate with a lug provided on the base 13, in order to position the screw 15 in the required angular position to be able to fit the pin 17.
- the nut 16 has externally a longitudinal knurling 39 for facilitate its handling.
- the nut 16 On the internal side, the nut 16 has a groove 40 of diameter slightly larger than the bottom diameter of the thread 41 which is found on either side of the groove 40, this thread extending over a very short length on the side which is below the groove 40 in the figure 11, and over a greater length of the side which is above.
- the length over which the groove 40 extends is slightly greater than that of the threaded portion 34 of the screw 30.
- the nut 16 is put in place on the screw 30 by presenting it on this last with the side that we see at the bottom in figure 11 which meets the first the threaded portion 34, the small portion of the thread 41 is engaged we see under the groove 40 in engagement with the threaded portion 34, we continue the screwing the nut 16 until the threaded part 34 is in the groove 40, and the portion of the thread 41 which is seen is slightly engaged above the groove 40 with the threaded part 34.
- the groove 40 serves to avoid unintentionally releasing the nut 16 from the rod 30, and thus limits the risk of losing this nut: in fact, when the part of the thread 41 which can be seen above the groove 40 ceases to be engaged with the threaded part 34, to continue unscrewing the nut 16, engage the part of the thread 41 that can be seen under the groove 40, which requires precise positioning of the nut 16 with respect to the part 34, which has very unlikely to happen spontaneously, nut 16 turning rather crazy with the threaded part 34 which is housed in the groove 40.
- Figures 12 and 13 show a variant 115 of the screw 15, the Figures 14 and 15 a variant 116 of the nut 16 and Figure 16 a variant 101 of the terminal element 1, the connection terminal 114 of the element 101 comprising the screw 115 and the nut 116.
- the same numerical references but increased by the number 100.
- the threaded rod 130 of the screw 115 differs from the rod 30 of the screw 15 by the fact that the threaded portion 134 extends practically from the free end of the rod 130 to the groove 132, a small coaxial collar 43 of low thickness being provided between the end of the threaded portion 134 and the free end of the rod 130, the collar 43 having an external diameter slightly less than that of the bottom diameter of the threaded portion 134.
- the rod 130 is distinguished also of the rod 30 by the fact that a flat 44 is formed at the outlet on the exterior of the radial section 120.
- the flange 43 is intended to be crushed once the nut 116 has been placed on the threaded portion 134, so avoid that this nut can be removed from the threaded part 134 and risk being lost.
- the flat 44 serves to avoid the existence of sharp edges likely to degrade the part 18 of the cable 3 located near the outlet of the section radial 120, sharp edges which would exist in the absence of the flat 44.
- the foot 131 of the screw 115 is distinguished from the foot 31 of the screw 15 by the instead of having a single outer diameter, it has a 45 part large diameter and part 46 of small diameter, part 45 being between the shoulder 133 and the part 46, the latter being between the part 45 and the free end of the foot 131.
- the foot 131 is also distinguished from the foot 31 by the fact that the notch 38 is replaced by a flat 47 made in the portion 45 with the same centering as the section 120 and the tapped hole 137.
- the shoulder 48 which exists because of the difference in diameter between the portions 45 and 46, bears on the end of base 113 which replaces base 13 in the end element of the tube luminescent 101, the existing hollow due to the flat 47 receiving a redent 49 of positioning provided on the end of the base 113 opposite to that by which it is attached to the glass envelope 104.
- the nut 116 comprises a metal body 50 and a gasket 51 in plastic material.
- the body 50 has internally a threaded portion 52 which ends on the side we see at the bottom with a chamfer 53 and on the side we see at the top by a frustoconical portion 54 which makes the junction between the part tapped 52 and a relatively thin annular portion 55.
- the body 50 has, approximately at mid-height, a groove 56 with semi-circular profile and, under groove 56, gadroons 57 which give the body 50, at their level, as seen in FIG. 15, a profile corrugated external.
- the lining 51 has a corresponding internal conformation generally to the external conformation of the body 50.
- the lining 51 has a spout 58 which is housed in a chamfer external of the body 50, a series of gadroons 59 of a shape such as the hollow between two gadroons 59 receives a gadroon 57 from the body 50 while the hollow between two gadroons 57 receives a gadroon 59 of the lining 51 (see FIG. 15), a annular bead 60 with semicircular section engaged in the groove 56, and a annular return 61 with a U-shaped profile which borders the annular portion 55 of the body 50 on its three sides.
- the lining 51 is snap-fitted on the body 50. It is there maintains thanks to the return 61 and the spout 58. It is guided in rotation with respect to the body 50 in particular by the cooperation of the portion 55 and the return 61, of the groove 56 and bead 60 as well as spout 58 with the chamfer corresponding, but the rotation is stopped by the cooperation of the gadroons 57 and 59, unless a torque is exerted on the lining 51 so that the lining can be deform so that there is a slip between the gadroons of the body and those of the garnish.
- the nut 116 makes it possible to limit the tightening torque which it is possible to exert by means of this nut 116, this which has the advantage of preventing the portion from being over-tightened stripped 18 of cable 3 with the nut to the point of cutting this portion.
- the variant 201 of the terminal element shown in FIG. 17 is similar to item 101, but screw 115 is replaced by screw 215 shown in Figures 18 and 19.
- screw 115 is replaced by screw 215 shown in Figures 18 and 19.
- element 201 and for screw 215 the same reference numbers as for element 1 and screw 15, but plus the number 200.
- the axial part of the channel for receiving a portion end of the cable 3 is formed by four sections 219A, 219B, 219C and 219D, axially oriented but offset and open laterally through the threaded portion 234 of the rod 230 of this screw, and the radial part of the channel reception is formed by two radial sections 220A and 220B leading to each end in a respective axial section.
- the radial section 220A opens respectively in the axial section 219A and in the axial section 219C while the section radial 220B opens respectively into the axial section 219B and into the axial section 219D.
- the threaded portion 234 of the rod 230 extends from the free end of the rod 230 to groove 232, the threaded portion 234 being designed to cooperate with a nut such as nut 116, as shown in Figure 17.
- the foot 231 of the nut 214 is similar to the foot 31, but has excavations 62A, 62B, 62C and 62D which respectively extend the sections 219A to 219D of the rod channel 230.
- connection terminals 14, 114 or 214 are likely to be implemented in the other terminals.
