- An example of such a component is a hydraulic retarder which is coupled to the vehicle and which may in a short time generate large amounts of heat which have to be dissipated quickly by means of the ordinary radiator.
- One way of improving the effectiveness of the radiator's cooling capacity is to improve the air flow through it. This can be done by providing after the radiator an enclosed duct in which to place the cooling fan in order to promote an effective air flow in the duct and hence also through the radiator. What has thus been aimed at is an unbroken flow duct to the fan, which is achieved by making the fan run in a fan ring which is sealed relative to the radiator by means of a seal.

These reinforcements 11 are radially oriented and situated in the circumferential direction at mutual spacings from one another.
- each of these reinforcements 11 has a finger 12 which extends beyond the flange portion 10. The result is that the seal 8 is locally extended both radially and axially.
- the width of the fingers 12 in the circumferential direction may be varied according to need, as also the number of reinforcements 11, which are advantageously made integral with the remainder of the seal 8 and may be situated all round the seal 8 or only locally at one or more points, although the greatest need for reinforcements according to the invention is normally on the upper section of the seal 8 in the version depicted in Fig.2.

Claims (6)
- Joint d'étanchéité prévu pour fermer un espace situé entre, d'une part, un anneau de ventilateur (4) monté sur un moteur de véhicule (1) autour d'un ventilateur de refroidissement (2) et, d'autre part, un boítier de ventilateur (6) sur le côté d'un radiateur (3) appartenant au moteur de véhicule qui est en vis-à-vis du ventilateur de refroidissement, le joint d'étanchéité (8) étant circulaire et ayant à une première de ses extrémités une partie de fixation (9) pour raccordement à l'anneau de ventilateur, le joint d'étanchéité (8) ayant également une partie de rebord (10) qui se connecte à la partie de fixation, s'élargie dans la direction s'éloignant de la partie de fixation, et est prévue, sur sa partie intérieure, pour assurer l'étanchéité par rapport au boítier de ventilateur (6), caractérisé en ce que le joint d'étanchéité (8) a au moins un doigt (12) qui s'étend au-delà de la périphérie de la partie de rebord (10), et qui est prévu pour venir en contact avec le boítier de ventilateur (6) pour maintenir le joint d'étanchéité (8) en position par rapport au boítier de ventilateur (6) également lorsque la partie de rebord (10) a perdu son contact d'étanchéité avec le boítier de ventilateur (6), en permettant ainsi au joint d'étanchéité de s'ouvrir lorsqu'il y a un déplacement mutuel prédéterminé entre le joint d'étanchéité (8) et le boítier de ventilateur (6), pour réduire ainsi la pression négative dans le conduit d'air dans lequel le joint d'étanchéité (8) constitue une démarcation, tandis qu'en même temps la forme du joint d'étanchéité (8) reste sensiblement la même que lorsque le joint d'étanchéité est fermé.
- Joint d'étanchéité selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que le joint d'étanchéité (8) comporte plus d'un doigt (12).
- Joint d'étanchéité selon la revendication 1 ou 2, caractérisé en ce que chaque doigt (12) constitue un prolongement d'un renforcement orienté radialement respectif (11), qui est agencé sur la partie de rebord (10).
- Joint d'étanchéité selon la revendication 3, caractérisé en ce que plusieurs renforcements (11), chacun muni d'un doigt, sont agencés à des espacements mutuels en un groupe sur l'extérieur de la partie de rebord (10).
- Joint d'étanchéité selon la revendication 3, caractérisé en ce que les renforcements (11) sont réalisés en un seul bloc avec la partie de rebord (10), et sont en forme de nervure.
- Joint d'étanchéité selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 5, caractérisé en ce qu'il est constitué d'un matériau élastique, de manière avantageuse en caoutchouc.
