Definitions
- the present invention relates to a finishing profile device comprising at least a first support strip intended to be fixed on a support structure and a so-called visible strip, intended for be visible once the profile is in place on said structure support.
- This visible strip comprises a first and a second strip-shaped side portions, at least the first side portion extending in overhang with respect to the first support strip in being kept away from the latter by first means bracing once the profile is placed on said structure support so as to define at least a first lateral housing suitable for receive the lateral end of an element such as a covering panel of the support structure.
- a finishing profile device of this type is known from the patent French published in the name of the plaintiff under the number 2 700 568.
- the support structure on which the profile is intended to be fixed is by example a wall or a ceiling.
- covering panels for example formed by profiled blades, assembled together by means of a tongue and groove system.
- the finishing profile device is used to transition between the boards, especially along the edges or in the angles formed by the support structure.
- the aforementioned French patent proposes a device which comprises in in reality three profile structures: two support profiles and one recovery.
- the support profiles are fixed to the structure, while that the cover profile is provided to cover these profiles with support by trapping the corresponding edge of at least one panel coating.
- the profile device can be arranged so that present a flat surface, or a surface shaped as a re-entrant angle or at an outgoing angle.
- the device disclosed by the French patent No. 2 700 568 is satisfactory, but it has the disadvantage of not give the user no freedom in the choice of decoration the visible strip.
- the manufacturer can offer in its range of products of finishing profiles of different colors or, so general, having different aspects, generally matching the panels coating also available.
- the user may wish use the profile to obtain an aesthetic effect which contrasts with the covering panel, for example to make a cornice contrasting or a frieze of finishing contrasted compared to the color of cladding panels.
- the object of the present invention is to propose a finishing profile which, while remaining simple from the point of view of its manufacture and its placement on the support, gives the user a much wider choice with regard to the final aesthetic aspect that he can obtain by putting in place the profile.
- the visible strip at least, is made of transparent plastic
- the first bracing means comprise a first bracing flank which extends substantially perpendicular to said first side portion, in a region of the device which is located between this lateral portion and the first support strip
- the device comprises a first connecting strip and a closure
- said first connecting strip extending between the end free from the first lateral portion of the visible strip and the end of the first bracing flank which is close to said first lateral portion
- the closure element includes a band which is connected to the free end of the second lateral portion of the strip apparent from the fact that, once the profile is put in place on the structure of support, the first lateral portion and the first connecting strip form two substantially parallel parts of a first extending ply overhanging the first support strip, while the second lateral portion and the strip of the closure element form two substantially parallel parts of a second fold, to the fact that the profile has a decorative housing, arranged under the face apparent and extending over substantially the entire
- the shape of the profile according to the invention achieves the above goal. Indeed, the manufacturer may, for a given application, offer only one range of profiles finish, but the user can choose any type of decorative insert to enhance the visual effect obtained.
- the profile is able to contain and maintain an insert of decoration in the form of a strip, so that this insert is visible on the visible face since this face, at least, is transparent.
- the decoration housing is closed once the device is put in place on the support structure (the longitudinal ends of the device are for example closed respectively by the floor and by the ceiling when the profile is put in vertically on a wall).
- the decoration insert cannot therefore be removed only if we dismantle the device in relation to the structure of support, which avoids any untimely manipulation, for example of the from a child.
- the particular configuration of the device (in particular the presence and arrangement of the first and second folds) makes it possible to form holding means for the decorative insert and thus ensuring a perfect positioning of the latter against the inner face of the strip apparent, that the profile is placed in a situation in which its apparent face is flat or that it is shaped as a re-entrant angle or outgoing angle.
- the manufacturer can offer a wide variety of decorative inserts, which the user can to choose.
- These inserts can for example be formed by strips of paper or by thin plastic strips, on which it is much easier to make the decorations according to drawings and given colors, only on profiles of the type disclosed by the French Patent No. 2,700,568.
- the first connecting strip and / or the closure element strip is connected to the side portion corresponding by a local thickness reduction zone forming a hinge.
- This hinge at least partially opens the housing decoration to facilitate the insertion of the decoration insert in the profile.
- hinges can play a role during the manufacture of the profile.
- the first connecting strip and the tape of the closure element normally extend to a very low distance (of the order of 1 to 3 mm) from the lateral portions of the strip visible (the folds are almost flattened). If the profile is extruded in this "normal” position and if this distance is indeed very small, it there is a risk that the folds tend to stick before the definitive stabilization of the profile structure and its cooling. Thanks to the presence of the hinges, it is possible to extrude the profile in a situation where it is "open", that is, the tape connection and the strip of the closure element are further apart lateral portions of the visible strip only in their position "normal” use.
- the closure element comprises a second connecting strip, a second support strip and a second bracing flank, the second support strip being intended to be fixed on the support structure, the second side bracing extending substantially perpendicular to relative at the second lateral portion, in a region of the device which is located between this second lateral portion and the second support strip.
- the second connecting strip extends between the free end of the second lateral portion of the visible strip and the end of the second flank bracing which is adjacent to said second lateral portion and, a once the profile is in place, the second fold extends overhang by relative to the second support strip so as to define a second lateral housing capable of receiving the lateral end of an element such as a support structure cladding panel.
- the device according to this first variant is particularly intended to ensure the transition between two covering panels. he can both be two panels fixed on the same plane formed by the support structure as two panels attached to two parts of the support structure forming an angle, entering or leaving.
- the visible strip is advantageously likely to be folded along a fold line extending longitudinally in a median region of said apparent band.
- the fold line defines a reduced area around which the profile can be folded so as to conform its visible face at an outgoing angle or at a returning angle. So advantageous, the fold line is formed by a zone local reduction in the thickness of the visible face of the profile, the reduction in thickness being, however, not visible from this exposed face.
- the device advantageously includes holding means in a stable folding position in which the visible strip is shaped as an outgoing angle.
- This arrangement facilitates the fixing and holding in place of the profile on its support structure, in particular on the corners coming out of the wall.
- the two lateral portions of the visible strip and the two connecting strips have substantially the same width.
- the decoration insert can be effectively maintained over the entire width of the belt overhang visible in relation to the support strips of the profile (this width corresponding to that of the first and second folds).
- the support structure When the side ends of components such as cladding panels the support structure are inserted under the overhang areas, they tend to bring the connecting strips even more towards the lateral portions of the visible strip (i.e. to close on themselves the first and second folds), from which a pinch results, or at least a wedge, lateral end portions of the insert decoration which further improves the retention in place.
- the second lateral portion of the visible strip is bent with respect to the first lateral portion along a line of bending which extends longitudinally in a middle region of said visible strip so as to form an outgoing angle with said first side portion;
- the first support strip has a so-called "internal" end which, once the device has been put in place on the support structure, at most substantially extends to the vertical from the bending line in the direction from the free end of the first lateral portion of the visible strip towards said line of bending;
- the closure element is formed by a closure strip which, in the conformation in outgoing angle and once the device put in place on the support structure, is located near the first side bracing; moreover, the position of the bending line is such that, once the profile is in place on the support structure, the width of the part of the visible strip which is bent with respect to the first lateral portion of said visible strip is substantially equal to the distance between the support structure and the first lateral portion of the visible strip.
- the device of the invention is more particularly intended for lining the visible edge of coating.
- the closure strip is capable of pivoting around the free end of the second lateral portion of the strip apparent and the device comprises means for blocking the strip of closure in its position in which it forms the second fold with said second lateral portion.
- the profile device has a section which is constant over its entire length.
- the lateral dimensions of the different elements of the device will be measured transversely to the length of the latter.
- the adjective "lateral" will be used to designate elements or parts of elements that are on the sides of the section of the profile.
- the profile shown in the drawings is extruded in material transparent plastic, e.g. crystal PVC, and may have a shiny or satin appearance depending on the composition of the chosen material.
- material transparent plastic e.g. crystal PVC
- the device is made in the form of an extruded profile in one piece.
- the device is formed by two elementary profiles which constitute two different parts. However, these two parts can optionally be extruded together being initially connected by a breakable veil.
- the section 10 comprises a first and a second support strip, respectively 12 and 14 which are intended to be fixed on a support structure 1 such as a wall or a ceiling.
- a support structure 1 such as a wall or a ceiling.
- fastening means for example staples, screws (possibly self-drilling if holes are not made in the support strips before installation profile), or even glue.
- the profile also includes a strip 16 which is visible when it is in place, as well as a first and a second flank bracing, respectively 18 and 20, which have the same height H and which extend towards the visible strip from an internal end, respectively 12A and 14A, support strips, up to one end said external, respectively 18A and 20A of said bracing flanks.
- the visible strip 16 comprises a central portion 16A, on the and the other of which extend two lateral portions, respectively 17A and 17B which are arranged overhanging the strips of support 12 and 14.
- the lateral portions 17A and 17B cover the support strips 12 and 14 over a width D measured from the internal ends of these bands.
- the ends sides of elements such as cladding panels 5 can be inserted in the lateral housings 19A and 19B formed between these lateral portions 17A and 17B and the support strips.
- the extremities panels abut against the outer sides of the sides spacer.
- the ends 18A and 20A of the bracing flanks are connected at the ends free lateral, respectively 16 'and 16 "of the visible strip by connecting strips, respectively 22 and 24. It can be seen that, when the profile is set up as in the position shown in Figure 1, the connecting strips extend parallel to the lateral portions of the visible strip, each connecting strip, respectively 22 and 24 being arranged at a small distance (of the order of 1 to 3 mm) from the portion corresponding side, respectively 17A and 17B. So the whole formed by the first lateral portion 17A and by the first strip of link 22 forms a first fold, while the assembly formed by the second lateral portion 17B and by the second connecting strip 24 forms a second fold.
- the ends 16 'and 16 " are provided with heels, respectively 15 'and 15 "which protrude slightly towards the rear (i.e. towards the support strips) beyond the rear faces of the connecting strips 22 and 24 to rest on the visible faces of the panels 5.
- a decorative insert 26 in the form of tape which is arranged inside the profile, so that it is in contact with the inner face 16B of the visible strip 16 of the profile.
- a decorative housing is provided under the visible face of the profile, this housing extending over substantially the entire width of this visible face, between the first and second folds.
- the decoration housing is closed by the first strip of connection, with the first bracing flank and the first strip of support, while on the side of the second fold, this housing is closed by the closure element comprising the second connecting strip, the second bracing flank and the second support strip.
- the width of the decorative insert is such that its ends side come into close contact with the internal faces of the free ends 16 'and 16 "of the visible strip inside the first and second folds (17A, 22) and (17B, 24). So when the profile is put in place, the decoration given by the insert extends over the entire width of its exposed face.
- the lateral end portions 26A and 26B of the insert are held between the opposite faces of the two elements of each of the folds (17A, 22) and (17B, 24).
- the connecting strips 22 and 24 are connected to the portions corresponding side 17A and 17B by areas of reduction local which form hinges 28A and 28B extending along the length of the profile. In these areas, the thickness of the plastic is example less than half the current thickness of the connecting strips.
- the visible strip 16 can be folded relative to a fold line 19 which extends longitudinally in a region median of its central portion 16A. As we can see better on the Figure 1, this fold line is formed by a reduction zone thickness of the visible strip. In the advantageous example depicted, the decrease is created by a longitudinal recess made on the internal face 16B of the visible strip. In this area, the thickness of the strip is for example less than half the thickness current of the visible strip 16. The width of the zone thickness is relatively small, for example 2 to 5 mm.
- the visible face of the profile is shaped at an angle entering, the support strips 12 and 14 can be fixed on support structures such as walls 2 forming a re-entrant angle. he it is not necessarily a right angle, since the flexibility provided by the fold line allows the profile to be adapted to different angular openings.
- Figure 3 shows the profile folded so that its strip apparent forms an outgoing angle, the support strips 12 and 14 can indeed be fixed on support structures such as walls 3 forming an outgoing angle.
- the flexibility conferred by the line of folding allows the profile to be adapted to different angular openings outgoing corner.
- the profile advantageously includes means for maintenance in a stable folding position in which the strip apparent is shaped as an outgoing angle.
- the outgoing angles formed by the corners of walls generally describe 90 °, we will preferably choose this position stable folding corresponds to a right angle.
- These means of maintenance are of particular interest in that they allow reinforce the mechanical strength of the profile when it occupies its configuration in outgoing angle, configuration in which it equips a region of walls subject to various attacks (rustling during traffic) local residents equipped with the profile, various blows ).
- These holding means comprise a female profile of locking 30 which is integral with the first bracing flank 18 and which extends, under the central portion 16A of the visible strip, at the more substantially up to the plumb line 19, on the other side of the sidewall 18 relative to the connecting strip 22. They also comprise a male locking profile 32 which is integral with the second flank bracing 20 and which extends at most substantially up to plumb with the fold line 19, on the other side of the sidewall 20 relative to the connecting strip 24. As can be seen in FIG. 3, the male profiles 32 and female 30 locking are likely to cooperate for maintain the profile in its stable folding position in which the visible strip is shaped as an outgoing angle defining substantially A right angle.
- the female profile forms a housing in which can engage the male snap-lock profile.
- a wall 34 of the housing is slightly elastically deformable and the profile locking male has a latching protrusion 36 which retains the male profile in its locked position cooperating in the manner of a hook with a retaining surface 38 practiced on the wall 34.
- the male profile of locking is achieved by an allowance made on the free end a strip 40 which comes in extension of the support strip 14, the other side of the bracing flank 20 relative to this strip 14.
- this the latter advantageously comprises an extension strip 42 which extends in extension of one of the first and second strips of connection, at most substantially to the vertical line of the fold line of the visible strip. So in the region of the extension strip, the insert can be trapped or pinched, not only between the strip of link equipped with this extension strip and the lateral portion corresponding but also between the extension strip in itself and the region of the central portion 16A of the visible strip located opposite the extension strip.
- this extension strip is integral with one of the male 30 and female 32 locking profiles and the question further includes a substantially 44 spacer web parallel to the bracing flank of which this profile is integral.
- the extension strip 42 is integral with the first bracing flank 18, and the bracing veil 44 extends substantially at right angles to this strip of extension, obviously in the direction going away from the strip apparent 16.
- the female profile of locking has a contour which closes on the side 18 as shown in Figure 3, in the outgoing angle conformation, the male profile is engaged in the profile female 30 and the wall 46 of the female profile which connects the web spacer 44 to the housing in which the male profile is received in abutment against the spacer side 20.
- the extension strip 42 and the spacer web 44 then extend respectively by look of the two halves of the central portion 16A of the visible strip 16 of the profile which are on either side of the fold line. So, the decorative insert 26 is maintained over its entire width.
- the two lateral portions 17A and 17B of the visible strip 16 and the two connecting strips 22 and 24 have substantially the same width.
- the bracing sides 18 and 20 form a right angle with the support strips 12 and 14 to which they are respectively attached.
- the support bands 12 and 14 are located in the same plane and extend parallel to the connecting strips 22 and 24, and also parallel to the visible strip 16.
- the bracing sides 18 and 20 have the same height and extend perpendicularly both by relative to the visible strip 16 and relative to the support strips 12 and 14.
- the two lateral portions 17A and 17B of the visible strip 16 have substantially the same width D and this width is advantageously between 1/5 and 1/3 of the total width L of the visible strip 16. If, in addition, the lateral portions of the visible strip have the same width as the connecting strips, we ensure that the insert decoration 26 is imprisoned to be held in place over a width sufficient.
- the widths L and D can be example be of the order of 4 to 10 cm and, respectively, 1 to 3 cm.
- Figure 4 shows a profile device 110 mounted on a support structure such as a wall 4.
- this device includes two separate elementary profiles: a first profile 105 which includes a support strip 112 intended to be fixed on the wall, and a second profile 106 which includes an exposed strip 116 intended to be visible when the device is fixed to the wall.
- the profile 106 is transparent, while profile 105 may not be.
- the exposed strip 116 includes first and second portions side 117A and 117B. To keep the visible strip 116 at a distance of the support strip 112, the device comprises means bracing comprising a bracing 118 fitting the second elementary section 106.
- the lateral end of the first lateral portion 117A is connected to the end 118A of the sidewall bracing by a connecting strip 122.
- the assembly constituted by the first lateral portion 117A and by this connecting strip forms a first fold.
- the second profile elementary 106 also comprises a closure strip 124 connected to the free end of the second lateral portion 117B. As one can see in FIG. 4, this second lateral portion and the closure strip form a second fold.
- a decorative housing is formed at the interior of the second elementary section 106, under the visible strip 116 of the latter, this housing being able to receive a decorative insert 126 whose lateral ends are held in the two folds previously mentioned, and which extends over substantially the entire width of the visible face of the profile.
- the decoration housing is closed by the connecting strip 122, with the bracing flange 118 and the support strip 112, while on the side of the second fold, this housing is closed by the closure element formed by the closure strip 124.
- the device shown in Figure 4 is particularly intended to come and style the edge of decorative panels. Therefore, the second lateral portion 117B of the visible strip is bent by relative to the first lateral portion along a bending line 119 which extends longitudinally in a middle region of the strip related. The latter is therefore shaped as an outgoing angle, and sees that the width L1 of the entire portion of the visible strip 116 which is angled relative to the first lateral portion 117A of the latter around the line 119 is substantially equal to the distance D1 between the visible face of the first lateral portion 117A and the structure of support 4, this distance being measured substantially perpendicular to said structure.
- the second lateral portion 117B completely masks the thickness of the edge of the covering panel inserted in the housing side 119A and also hides all the "internal" elements of the profile device.
- the closure strip 124 is located in the vicinity of the bracing blank 118.
- the first elementary section 105 comprises means assembly capable of cooperating with the first bracing flank 118 for both securing the two elementary sections together and keep the assembly formed by the first fold (117A, 122) away from the support strip 112.
- these assembly means include a housing 120 which is formed between two sides assembly (120A and 120B respectively) which extend substantially perpendicular to the support strip 112.
- the side bracing 118 is engaged in this housing 120. It can be seen that in the outgoing angle configuration of FIG. 4, the assembly forming the first ply (117B, 124) is folded against the assembly flank 120B which is closest to the elbow line 119. The outer face of the closure strip 124 is practically in contact with this flank 120B assembly.
- the device comprises means for retaining the flank 118 at the interior of the housing 120.
- the sidewall 118 can be provided with longitudinal ribs 121A which can come engage in grooves 121B made in the internal faces of the 120A and 120B assembly sides.
- the free end of the first lateral portion 117A of the visible face 116 is equipped with a 115 'heel.
- a first hinge 128A is produced by a zone thickness reduction at the junction of the first portion lateral 117A and the connecting strip 122. It can also be seen that a second hinge 128B is produced by a reduction zone of the thickness at the junction of the second lateral portion 117B and the closure strip 120.
- the bending line 119 previously mentioned can be a fold line, made by a reduction zone of thickness.
- the housing which contains the insert 126 is produced under the shape of a continuous slit whose cross section has the shape of a elbow.
- the hinges can advantageously be used.
- Figure 5 shows the configuration that the second elementary section 106 during its manufacture by extrusion.
- the hinges are used to separate the connecting strip 122 from the first portion of the visible strip 117A.
- the closure strip 124 can be moved away from the second lateral portion 117B.
- being able to separate the strip from connection and the visible strip 124 also makes it easier to insert the decorative insert in its housing.
- the device advantageously comprises means for blocking this strip of closure in its position in which it forms the second fold with this second lateral portion.
- the device comprises advantageously a latching member 130 which is integral with the first connecting strip 122 and is located on the other side of the latter relative to the bracing flange 118.
- the free end of the strip of closure 124 is capable of cooperating by snap-fastening with this latching member.
- the member 130 includes for example a recess 131 in which the free end 125 can be accommodated the strip 124.
- a rib 133 disposed on the edge of the recess 131 can further increase the snap effect.
- a stop or wedging means can be provided position of the strip 124 constituted, for example, by a rib 126.
