Definitions
- the invention relates to a control device for a clock to be synchronized by radio signals, the a has its own drive, with the in the preamble of the claim 1 specified characteristics.
- Kind is through the DE-OS 40 36 851 known.
- a clock is synchronized by RDS (Radio Data System) signals received and decoded will. Time information is extracted from the decoded signals pulled out and to correct the current time the clock.
- Information data is being used in an increasing number of countries together with radio broadcasts from broadcasting stations broadcast. Among other things, these contain detailed information Information about the date and time. This for the synchronization of clocks - for example in Motor vehicles - to use is obvious. Problematic but is that broadcasting stations across national borders and send out time zones, so under certain circumstances also can be received where the current time is not included that matches at the location of the sending station.
- the facility according to DE-OS 40 36 851 does not do it justice. At looking for a station that is comfortable for the listener occur that a synchronizable clock several times one or more hours is adjusted, i.e. the wrong one Time. A listener prefers one far received distant foreign broadcaster, his watch goes constantly wrong.
- Another radio controlled clock is by DE-OS 34 46 724 known.
- the main problem here is the correction the time is handled by an actuator. starting point are broadcast by a long-wave transmitter Time signals.
- the one with any Broadcasting broadcast time information should be usable for exact correction of the time. It should be possible to use the control device worldwide, with emphasis on user friendliness becomes.
- control device distinguishes itself for solving these tasks the above Kind by the distinctive features of claim 1. There are further characteristics from claims 2 to 12.
- RDS signals from broadcasting stations are shared with Broadcast broadcasts. These signals contain information about the current date and time, but also about the station or its home area. In the future, such Signals also transmitted through digital transmission systems will.
- the time and identification signals are after receipt by a receiver in the control device to decode and extract from the remaining signals. If they are not received or not received completely, there is no correction of a free running watch that for example in a motor vehicle on the radio or Dashboard can be arranged. Then follows a comparison of the received identification signal with identification signals stored in a memory. In The current result depends on the result of the comparison displayed time of the clock either by less than one Correctable hour or without limitation of a correction value, after this time with the received time signal was compared.
- the clock is operated by an actuator.
- Possibilities are used, the correction value of transferred to the control unit to the control unit becomes.
- the synchronization of quartz clocks with digital or analog display is possible.
- An icon on one The display unit of the watch can be used for a correction Clues. If a correction of the time is undesirable the function of the control device should also be switched off be.
- the control device can be an integral part of the receiver or the clock, the same also applies to the control unit.
- a transmitter station 1 (here station XY) radio signals emitted by one Receiver 2 can be received.
- the receiver is a car radio designed as an RDS receiver 2 be.
- an assigned control device 4 is activated or deactivated.
- the control device 4 is circuit-wise with a clock 5 or with a Actuator 6 connected to the clock 5.
- the clock 5 is with equipped with its own drive, preferably is designed as a quartz watch.
- the control unit 6 enables the currently displayed time in a known manner T to adjust based on a correction value K. This is necessary because, for example, temperature fluctuations a run too slow or too fast the clock 5 effect.
- the clock 5 can be separately in the motor vehicle arranged or also part of the receiver 2 be.
- the radio signals emitted by the transmitting station 1 contain in addition to a main signal also time signals t and Identification signals ID.
- the time signals t give in encrypted form information about the day, month and that Year and the exact time. So it will be too current information about the hour hh, minute mm and Second ss delivered, for example to every full Minute.
- the identification signals ID are also encrypted and provide information about the home area the transmitting station 1 and / or they mark the Transmitting station 1 exactly, for example as station XY.
- the Broadcast stations 1 now have different sized broadcast areas. There are local, regional, national and international broadcasting stations 1, some of them across national borders and broadcast time zones. The transmitted Time information t therefore does not apply to the whole Reception area of the individual stations 1. Becomes a Program received, a probe must take place, whether a valid or invalid time signal for the reception area t is received. This feature is among others guaranteed by the control device 4:
- a selection step 4.1 asks whether whether the control device 4 is in operation, that is, synchronization 5 o'clock is desired at all. By pressing a switch or button not shown in detail the control device 4 can be deactivated or put back into operation. Is the control device 4 in operation (On) is in a second selection step 4.2 asked whether time signals t and identification signals ID were transferred at all. This is necessary, as not all broadcasting stations 1 have this information broadcast together with the radio signals.
- step 4.3 If the information is included (yes), it will be in the work step 4.3 decoded, the result being the time information t is in the form of hour / minute / second hh / mm / ss and an exact identifier of the transmitting station (XY) and / or a country code.
- the result is the correction value K, but it is possibly for an incorrect reception area applies.
- step 4.5 the identification signal ID compared with the content of a memory 7. in the For example, the memory contains a large number to be received Identification codes (station 1, station 2 ...) from some of which are marked with a character (>).
- a program branch is found in step 4.6 instead, which depending on the result of the comparison in Step 4.5 is done.
- the current one displayed Time T of clock 5 may be hours, minutes and seconds to adjust.
- This correction value K is then transmitted to the control unit 6 and used to correct the time T.
- this correction value K 59 minutes and 59 seconds be. Since the clock is unlikely to be 5 o'clock Approximately an hour can go wrong after the work step 4.7 still be provided that the correction value K, which is the radio signal from an unmarked transmitter 1 results, is limited to a maximum of thirty minutes. This is not shown in the figure.
- the clock 5 After transmission of the correction value K (or K ') the clock 5 is adjusted via the actuating unit 6, so that then it goes right. To adjust the clock 5 is not a time-consuming reading of operating instructions and programming more needed. It is sufficient to briefly the recipient 2 on to initiate the correction. One was done Correction is briefly indicated by a symbol on the Display unit of clock 5 signals. The change from Summer to winter time and vice versa if from Receiver 2 a home transmitter is received. At reception of radio signals from distant transmitter stations 1 only a correction of the current time T of the clock 5 in the minute range.
- the control device housed in the receiver 2 or the clock 5 4 is extreme as an electronic circuit to save space and preferably consists of one Decoder, a comparator, the memory 7, a Filter and from a read / write memory and a Data bus.
- the detailed design of the circuit should not described here because there are a lot of them technical possibilities.
