- Fig. 8 illustrates the next step by which ladder 5 descended to the rear of vehicle 1 after release of the rigid attachment 9 and the means securing in transport position, and retreating and locking in position E on rail 2 of carriage 3 loaded with cradle 4 and ladder 5.
- the cradle 4 and ladder 5 are then pivoted around axis 44 to descend the base of the ladder towards the ground. Note that the longitudinal position of the cradle along the ladder is such that the base of it cannot touch the ground. Then, the scale being standing upright close to the vertical, the link 9 is hooked by means of attachment 7.
- Fig. 12 shows the scale 5 pressed against a wall P. Since it is a view of principle, only the essential functional elements of the device according to the invention have been shown, know the pivot 35, the cradle 4, the attachment means 7 and the rigid connection 9.
- the scale 5 is secured on the pivot 35 via the cradle 4, and below by means of the rigid connection 9 fixed to the attachment means 7.
- the device according to the invention further improves the stability of the ladder by increasing the upper pressing force against the wall P. To do this, scale 5 is arched as the drawing illustrates it, by pulling on its base towards outside according to arrow F, then blocking in length of the arm 90 by means of the screw 91. If necessary, we can provide a ground support for two ladder uprights, using two crutches level adjustment, known per se.
- Fig. 10 illustrates the case where the land adjoining the wall against which the ladder 5 must be supported is not horizontal, but inclined parallel to the wall. Vehicle 1 will then be oriented in the direction of the slope, which will advance the slide 70 on slide 80 to find the balance of the socket 35, condition on which the verticality depends transverse scale.
- the slope is very steep, the useful length of the slide 80 will not be sufficient. For this case, it an advanced position of the carriage 3 on rail 2 relative to position E, in which it can be immobilized, Fig. 11. The vehicle 1 will then have been oriented in the direction of rise, and the slide 70 will be moved back as it fits on slide 80. Note that in the direction normal to the wall, the slope does not of importance.
- the device according to the invention has the advantage of grouping little elements easy to install on a vehicle van type utility vehicle. It should also be noted that the sliding ladder mounted in the device remains perfectly usable independently of it, since it is immediately separable from cradle.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device for sliding ladder operation, plus device particularly intended to be mounted on a vehicle able to carry such large scales dimension: utility trucks or vans, in particular of firefighters.
There are currently sliding ladders at three plans which, when fully developed, are long about seventeen meters, allowing to reach heights of at least fifteen meters above the ground. Given their longitudinal dimensions, they are most often worn on the roof of vehicles van type utilities. For transport, plans are immobilized between them by means of the rope of the development system, the whole being subject on the vehicle like a conventional load.
As a rule, no less than four people well-trained must combine their efforts to set up such a ladder which, despite it is made of light alloy tubes, does not weigh less than eighty kilograms or more. We can easily imagine the importance of the overhang of this equipment deployed seventeen meters high, and the importance of the restraint effort that must be provided to bring the top of the ladder to rest on a wall which will lie horizontally at almost six meters ground support. Under normal conditions, estimates that the average operation time is twenty minutes. But it's counting without conditions unfavorable such as strong wind or false maneuvers. In addition, it is not uncommon to ensure security, the ladder should be guyed, this which in addition to the time it takes may cause additional difficulties, such as requiring plant stakes in the roadway.
The present invention therefore consists of a device providing a global solution to this problem, in that it minimizes and therefore very clearly facilitate human intervention to maneuvering large sliding ladders, and in that it also allows an establishment much faster from these scales which is a of paramount importance in the context of the activities of firefighters.
- un pivot porté par le véhicule en porte-à-faux de manière à être dégagé à distance de la caisse du véhicule ;
- un moyen d'attache porté par le véhicule, à distance sous ledit pivot, pour établir une fixation en un point sensiblement sur la même verticale que ce dernier ;
- un berceau dans lequel est fixée l'échelle par l'intermédiaire de son plan de base, de telle manière que les autres plans de l'échelle puissent être manoeuvrés librement par rapport audit plan de base, lequel berceau se trouve en position intermédiaire entre les extrémités dudit plan de base, et comporte un moyen pour être reçu et assujetti sur ledit pivot selon une liaison à la Cardan ;
- a pivot carried by the vehicle overhanging so as to be released at a distance from the vehicle body;
- attachment means carried by the vehicle, at a distance under said pivot, for establishing a fixing at a point substantially on the same vertical as the latter;
- a cradle in which the ladder is fixed by means of its base plane, in such a way that the other planes of the ladder can be maneuvered freely relative to said base plane, which cradle is in an intermediate position between the ends of said base plane, and comprises means for being received and secured on said pivot in a connection to the gimbal;
Due to the connection to the Cardan joint of the cradle scale on said pivot integral with the vehicle, the cradle can be swiveled around a vertical axis on 180 ° to orient the scale, around a first axis horizontal transverse to tilt the scale, and around a second horizontal axis orthogonal to the first to adjust the transverse verticality of the scale.
The rigid low link of adjustable length advantageously comprises a stirrup fixed on the side and other from the base plane of the scale, for example at level of a bar, as well as a median arm telescopic with progressive locking means or brake to adjust its length.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said pivot is slidably mounted on a longitudinal rail fixed to the vehicle roof and protruding at the rear, so as to be movable in together with the ladder and its cradle between a rear service position and a front position of transport.
Throughout the drawings, the same signs of reference have been used to designate everywhere same elements.
It this is a device intended not only for the maneuvering of a sliding ladder, but which serves also to place and secure it in position of transport on the vehicle roof 1.
Fig. 1.The device includes a beam or rail
metallic 2 mounted longitudinally on the roof of the
vehicle 1, for example centrally. It exceeds
the rear within the limits imposed by the regulations
of road traffic. In practice, the part
protruding is about one meter long. Yes
necessary, it is provided with reinforcing
de l'extrémité arrière du rail 2.At the rear end of
palier 62.The
qui se trouve lui à environ 2,5 m.The device of the invention further comprises,
secured to the vehicle 1, an attachment means 7 which is
located at a distance under the rear protruding part of the
The attachment means 7, Figs. 1 and 7, includes a
plan d'inclinaison. The attachment means 7 is intended to receive a
end of a
Fig. 9.
95.The
72.The second end of
A l'arrière, l'échelle 5
moyen de fixation rapide 98.In Fig. 1,
Beyond the
To place the ladder against a wall, the first operation is the responsibility of the vehicle driver 1 who is going to have to place the latter adequately by relative to the wall and depending on the height at achieve. Generally, vehicle 1 will be placed parallel to the wall, at a distance calculated so that the inclination of the ladder is correct.
liaison 9 est accrochée au moyen d'attache 7.Fig. 8 illustrates the next step by which
In Fig. 9,
Fig. 12 shows the
inclinaison au moyen de la liaison rigide 9.Two people are enough to set up
the scale which could even be carried out by a
alone when needed. Total operation time
which, as a reminder, is more than twenty minutes
currently despite the help of four people,
is reduced in a big way since it is around
ninety seconds. On the other hand, for
development lengths remaining within limits
reasonable, the scale can be used without support
higher, i.e. simply blocked in
tilt by means of the
Fig. 10 illustrates the case where the land adjoining
the wall against which the
d'importance. If the slope is very steep, the useful length of
the
In addition to its great practical interest, the device according to the invention has the advantage of grouping little elements easy to install on a vehicle van type utility vehicle. It should also be noted that the sliding ladder mounted in the device remains perfectly usable independently of it, since it is immediately separable from cradle.
