Description

Membrane for the dialysis of alkaline solutions containing colloidal impurities The cleaning of high percentage caustic alkali solutions from impurities of organic colloidal Nature, as it z. B. incurred in the production of viscose rayon, happens mainly through dialysis. The known dialysis membranes are made of parchment paper or from alkali treated cotton fabrics. These membranes have a limited Lifespan, and performance is not always satisfactory. It was found that high-polymer polyvinylalcohols as building materials for dialysis membranes for cleaning high-percentage caustic alkali, lyes are excellently suited. The suitability of this Highly polymeric polyvinyl alcohols are based on the one hand on their great resistance to Caustic alkali and, on the other hand, on the ability to work in water or aqueous solutions to swell more or less. Sufficient swellability is required in order to to be semi-perceptible. The swellability can be determined by a known treatment, z. B. by heating, influence or reduce, thereby on the other hand the mechanical To increase strength. A treatment to reduce the swellability is allowed do not go so far that the swellability is completely eliminated, as is the case with similar ones Products is done in order to use bodies made from them as a dielectric. For the application of high polymer polyvinyl alcohols after Invention, the treatment, if at all, may only be so far that a Part of the swellability upright folds becomes.

It has already been proposed that polyvinyl acetals be used as dialysis membranes to use. As experiments have shown, however, there are those that are completely transformed into the acetal Polyvinyl alcohols as building materials for dialysis membranes for the cleaning of high percentage Caustic alkali solutions cannot be used.

A film made from the above is suitable as a dialysis membrane Fabrics as well as a connection of a film with a wire mesh or with a any tissue of vegetable "origin.

Another advantage of using high polymer polyvinyl alcohols as a building material for dialysis membranes lies in the simple manufacturing method of the Di: alysizing chambers. One can use the films or sheets made from high polymer polyvinyl alcohols with a solution of the same (glue the substance. It is also possible to use the same Building material to use hoses or pipes for the inflow and outflow of the lye offer the advantage that they do not age and can also be easily glued together let connect with the chambers.
