Die Bienenwohnung zeigt bekannte Bauart. Sie wird durch die mit Durchlaßöffnungen versehene Wand e in den Honigraum α und den Brutraum b zerlegt, welche nach Fortnahme der Wand h durch die mit Glasscheiben c bzw. d versehenen, in Nuten der Querwände eingehängten Rahmen beobachtet werden können. Auf der Wand e läßt sich ein Schieber f in bekannter Weise bewegen, der ebenfalls Durchlaßöffnungen, z.B. von 6mm Durchmesser, besitzt. Ein Kanal g verbindet den Honigraum mit dem Ausflug ft oder dem Einflug q je nach der Stellung des äußeren Schiebers. Letzterer ist an der Vorderwand i befestigt und. wird durch Stellschrauben 0 in den verschiedenen Stellungen festgehalten. Der Schieber besteht beispielsweise aus einem Blech Z, das am unteren Ende ein Flugbrettchen η trägt, welches durch seitliche Bohrungen m mit dem Ausflugloch r des Brutraumes verbunden werden kann. Dies hat den Vorteil, daß der Honigraum besser ausgenutzt wird und daß die Schwarmlust vermindert wird. Durch diese Anordnung ist es ferner ermöglicht, auf die"einfachste Weise den Brutraum oder den Honigraum ohne Anwendung besonderer, den Bestand der Bienen gefährdender Mittel zu entvölkern und gleichzeitig das Bienenvolk selbst gegen Luftzug und Angriffe von außen, wie durch Mäuse, Vögel u. dgl., zu schützen.
