Von früher bekannt gewordenen Ohrenschützern, wie sie in der deutschen Patentschrift Nr. 75146 und in der amerikanischen Patentschrift Nr. 138894 dargestellt sind, unterscheidet sich der vorliegende dadurch, dafs er i. das Ohr vollständig einhüllt, also auch die wegen ihrer exponirten Lage gefährdeten Ränder der Ohrmuschel, sowie das Ohrläppchen schützt, 2. die Ohrmuschel ohne jeden Druck oder Zug umschliefst und folglich weder Schmerz oder Belästigung verursachen noch den Blutumlauf hemmen kann, und 3. die natürliche Stellung der Ohrmuschel oder ihrer Theile in keiner Weise verändert. Das Futteral besteht aus zwei Theilen a und b, welche bei c (in Fig. 1 c bis c) in einem Blattgelenk zusammenhängen. Man kann α als den Körper, b als den Deckel des Futterals auffassen, denn α umfafst aufser der Rückseite mit seinem Rande a¹ auch den Rand der Ohrmuschel, während Theil b sich dem Rande a^l anpafst und nur die Vorderseite der Ohrmuschel deckt. In Fig. 2 ist der Querschnitt von b in offener Stellung gezeichnet. In dieser Stellung kann das Futteral leicht angelegt werden. Die geschlossene Stellung ist in Fig. 2 mit Bezug auf b punktirt angegeben. In dieser Stellung schmiegt sich das Futteral der Ohrmuschel, doch ohne Zwang, vollständig an. Zum Verschlufs dienen zwei Klapp Schlösser, deren mit den Plättchen d an a¹ befestigte Klappen d^l über Stifte e am Deckel b greifen. Es können aber auch andere Verschlufsmittel angewendet werden.
