Abstract

Driver assistance system (1) has a steering wheel (3) with an outer rim (4) on which a display device (5) is mounted. The driver assistance system controls at least one display device of the steering wheel. The display is controlled such that from the seating position of the driver an indicated direction that is perceived by the driver (e.g. for turning the wheel) remains essentially independent of the position of the steering wheel. An independent claim is made for a method for indicating a particular direction to a driver using a display device mounted on the steering wheel rim.
