Abstract
La presente invención está dirigida a un dispositivo para tratar fracturas, que comprende una estructura receptora de placa que incluye sobre la cara que mira al hueso de la misma un receso de forma y tamaño adecuados para recibir una placa de osteosíntesis y una estructura emparejada de tamaño y localización adecuadas para enganchar una estructura correspondiente de la placa de osteosíntesis para prevenir el desplazamiento relativo entre la placa de osteosíntesis y el dispositivo en combinación con una o más patas que se proyectan lateralmente alejándose del receso, por lo menos una primera de las patas incluye un orificio receptor de elemento de fijación que se extiende a través de éste, la primera pata está dispuesta y orientada de manera que, cuando el dispositivo es recibido sobre una placa de osteosíntesis anclada al hueso, el orificio receptor de elemento de fijación se alinea para pasar un elemento de fijación insertado a través de éste dentro del hueso sin pasar a través de un eje longitudinal del canal medular. La persona medianamente versada en el estado de la técnica entenderá que los canales medulares en general no son ni rectos ni concéntricos con el hueso. Por tanto, el eje del canal medular, como tal término se usa en la presente solicitud, se refiere a una curva que conecta puntos en el centro del canal medular a lo largo de la longitud del hueso.La presente invención además va dirigida a un método para tratar fracturas, que comprende acoplar un primer extremo de un dispositivo de fijación longitudinal a un hueso sobre un primer lado de una fractura de manera que el dispositivo de fijación longitudinal se extiende a lo largo del hueso sustancialmente paralelo a un eje longitudinal del canal medular y acoplar un primer dispositivo de fijación lateral a una porción del dispositivo de fijación longitudinal que se extiende sobre una porción del hueso ...
