Abstract

Description
本发明涉及具有显著闪光的新型光泽颜料,该光泽颜料基于涂有氧化铁且在预涂敷状态下片状体平均尺寸为8-30μm、片状体平均厚度为300-600nm且纵横比为15-70的铝片状体。
本发明还涉及这些光泽颜料在对涂料、油漆、印刷油墨、塑料、陶瓷组合物和瓷釉以及装饰性化妆品制剂进行着色中的用途。
这里所用的氧化铁应理解为尤其指α-氧化铁(III)。然而术语“氧化铁”还应包括α-氧化铁(III)与少量γ-氧化铁(III)和/或磁铁矿(Fe3O4)的混合物。
具有氧化铁涂层的片状体铝颜料是众所周知的,并且例如描述于EP-A-33 457中。由于它们特殊的颜色性能,该颜料属于广泛用于对涂料、油漆、印刷油墨、塑料、陶瓷组合物和瓷釉以及装饰性化妆品制剂进行着色的随角异色效应颜料类。
随角异色效应颜料的特有光学效果是由于平行排列于应用介质中的片状体颗粒上的角度选择性光线反射。根据颜料的化学构成,这产生了角度依赖性明-暗效果或颜色变化,其已知为随角异色。
氧化铁涂敷的铝颜料的特有光学性能来自铝片状体表面的镜面反射、氧化铁层中的选择性光吸收以及氧化铁层上表面和下表面的光干涉的结合。
光干涉导致对氧化铁涂层厚度决定的颜色的感知。因此,随着氧化铁层厚度增加,干燥颜料粉末在空气中呈现出由于第一级或第二级干涉而产生分类的下列色调:
第一级干涉色:浅黄色(10nm)、金色(21nm)、浅红-金色(28nm)、红色(35nm)、紫色(44nm)、浅灰-紫色(53nm);
第二级干涉色:浅灰-黄色(63nm)、浅灰-金色(75nm)、浅红-金色(88nm)、红-金色(104nm)、红色(122nm)。
氧化铁层厚度为约35nm的颜料的显著特征在于它们在粉末状态下呈红色,但在应用介质如涂料中呈橙色。
氧化铁涂敷的铝颜料非常明亮且具有高遮盖性,这是它们特别广泛地用于汽车面漆中的原因。该领域中的常用颜料基于平均粒度为8-35μm,优选13-25μm且平均颗粒厚度为约80-200nm,对应于比表面积为3-8m2/g(在BET后于氮气中测量)且尺寸/厚度比(纵横比)为100-175的铝片状体。这些颜料呈现出高色度且外观非常均匀和“光滑”的金属镜面效果。
然而,对于将颜色的高色度和高亮度与显著的闪光结合在一起的随角异色效应涂料有不断增长的需求。尤其是直射阳光产生外观鲜活的油漆工程印象,因为它随视角变化且具有多个着色的光泽点。然而,同时还应具有重要的使用性能,如在所用随角异色效应颜料方面的高遮盖性、涂料在大规模油漆生产线上的加工性(环线稳定性)以及在即涂制品方面的高DORI(反射影像清晰度)。
已知平均粒径高于约40-50μm的粗粉碎的随角异色效应颜料在掺入涂料中时呈现出所需闪光,但它们的遮盖性显著更低,它们通常堵塞油漆的喷嘴且最终DORI不令人满意,这就是这些颜料不适于使用的原因。
因此,本发明的目的是提供在应用介质中呈现出所需光学性能,尤其是非常明亮的色调、遮盖性和闪光,同时满足尤其在大规模油漆生产线上使用的性能要求的随角异色效应颜料。
我们发现该目的由具有显著闪光的光泽颜料实现,该光泽颜料基于涂有氧化铁且在预涂敷状态下片状体平均尺寸为8-30μm、片状体平均厚度为300-600nm且纵横比为15-70的铝片状体。
本发明的光泽颜料优选基于纵横比为25-55的铝片状体。
本发明的光泽颜料更优选基于片状体平均尺寸为13-25μm、片状体平均厚度为350-550nm且纵横比为25-55的铝片状体。
铝片状体的平均厚度易于通过下列公式由其BET比表面积计算:
S=[2000(2h+d)]/(dhρ)
其中S:BET比表面积(m2/g)
h:片状体平均厚度(nm)
d:片状体平均直径(尺寸,nm)
ρ:铝的比重(g/cm3)。
本发明较细粉碎的光泽颜料在使用时呈现所需的闪光效果是不可预见的,因为以前的经验表明仅粗粉碎的光泽颜料能够产生这些效果。
在本发明特别有用的光泽颜料中,铝片状体涂有几何厚度为18-25nm、30-40nm或110-140nm的氧化铁层。在例如掺入涂料中时这些颜料呈现特别明亮的色调,即分别为特别明亮的金色、橙色或红色。
本发明的光泽颜料可以通过已知方法生产。它们特别有利地通过例如EP-A-33 457中所述的化学气相沉积(CVD)方法通过在流化的铝片状体存在下在气相中氧化分解羰基铁而得到。然而,它们还可以通过在悬浮于水和/或有机溶剂中的铝片状体存在下水解合适的铁化合物,例如无机盐如硝酸铁、硫酸铁和氯化铁,或者在同时氧化或不同时氧化下水解其他尤其是有机的铁化合物如乙酸铁、甲酸铁、柠檬酸铁、羰基铁、乙酰丙酮铁和二茂铁,以及随后进行或不进行煅烧而以湿化学方法生产。
如果需要,可以对本发明的光泽颜料进行另外的处理以使它们尤其可以稳定化而用于含水体系,例如水性涂料中。也可以在湿化学涂敷氧化铁之前进行铝片状体本身的类似处理。本发明的光泽颜料因此可以另外含有直接位于铝片状体上和/或作为氧化铁层上的外层的缓蚀涂层。
对此,已知使用尤其是铬、钼、磷、硅、锆和/或铝的氧化物作为缓蚀剂的许多稳定措施。实例包括铬酸/铬酸盐或钼酸/钼酸盐的作用,具有例如二氧化硅/水合氧化硅、二氧化锆/水合氧化锆、氧化铝/水合氧化铝、亚磷酸盐和/或磷酸盐的另外保护层的面漆,以及与缓蚀物质如有机硝基化合物和三价或五价磷的有机和/或无机化合物的联合应用。
本发明的光泽颜料非常适用于对油漆、涂料、印刷油墨(尤其是安全印刷油墨)、塑料、陶瓷组合物和瓷釉以及装饰性化妆品制剂进行着色。它们的显著特征在于具有高色度、高亮度、高光泽、高反射影像清晰度(DORI)、高遮盖性和所需闪光并且易于加工,尤其是在大规模油漆生产线上加工。
本发明的光泽颜料对涂料(可以是含溶剂涂料或水性涂料)的着色特别重要。特别重要的应用介质是汽车涂料。它们尤其适用于双涂层金属,但也可以使单涂层和多涂层金属具有所需闪光。
本发明的光泽颜料可以单独使用或与选自随角异色效应颜料,荧光着色剂,遮盖和透明性的彩色、白色和黑色颜料的其他颜料结合使用。
与具有相同色调的现有技术随角异色效应颜料相结合是特别有利的,因为这能够通过选择混合比而使闪光程度由不存在调节到显著。
待结合的常规随角异色效应颜料的实例包括二氧化钛或二氧化铁涂敷的云母颜料(珠光光泽颜料)、二氧化钛或氧化铁涂敷的铝颜料、二氧化钛或氧化铁涂敷的氧化铝片状体和未涂敷的铝片。特别令人感兴趣的是具有显著角度依赖性变色的随角异色效应颜料,如全息照片型颜料,基于手性液晶化合物的颜料,以及具有多层构造且可以基于例如铝、掺杂氧化铁、二氧化硅、合成或天然硅酸盐(如云母或玻璃)的全包覆基质片状体的片状体颜料,如涂有二氧化硅和氧化铁的铝和氧化铁片状体,涂有二氧化钛、二氧化硅和金属的云母片状体,涂有氧化铁、二氧化硅和金属的云母片状体,涂有氧化铁、二氧化硅和二氧化钛的云母片状体,涂有二氧化钛、二氧化硅和氧化铁的云母片状体,涂有金属、二氧化硅和二氧化钛的云母片状体,涂有金属、二氧化硅或氧化铁的云母片状体,或涂有金属、二氧化硅和金属的云母片状体,或者由包含例如氧化铁/二氧化硅/氧化铁、氧化铁/二氧化钛/氧化铁、二氧化钛/二氧化硅/二氧化钛、铬/氟化镁/铝/氟化镁/铬、或铬/氟化镁/铬的层序列的多层体系组成的片状体颜料。
实施例
实施例1
在由玻璃制成的圆柱形流化床反应器(直径15cm,长80cm)中通过1000l/h的氮气流化气流将1.5kg片状体平均尺寸为18μm且片状体平均厚度为430nm的铝粉流化,该反应器在下端装有玻璃料和流化气体入口,在上端装有带有内置过滤器套的盖子,并且具有围绕在玻璃壁周围的电加热带。在将反应器加热到200℃之后,将流化用的氮气与足够的空气混合以使反应器中的气体混合物包含约2.5体积%的氧气。
然后使用直接插入位于玻璃料上侧的反应器中的喷嘴借助200l/h的氮气载气流在6小时内将300ml预先在加热的进料容器中气化的五羰基铁连续引入反应器中,五羰基铁在反应器中分解形成沉积在铝片状体上的氧化铁(III)。
得到具有金色干涉色的明亮颜料粉末,在以含溶剂的CAB涂料体系施用于黑色和白色纸板时呈现明亮的金色、良好的遮盖性和显著的闪光。
实施例2
重复实施例1,不同的是通过使用230ml五羰基铁在5小时内用氧化铁涂敷0.8kg铝粉。
得到具有红色干涉色的明亮颜料粉末,在以含溶剂的CAB涂料体系施用于黑色和白色纸板时呈现明亮的橙色、良好的遮盖性和显著的闪光。
实施例3
重复实施例1,不同的是通过使用1665ml五羰基铁在35小时内用氧化铁涂敷铝粉。
得到具有红色干涉色的明亮颜料粉末,在以含溶剂的CAB涂料体系施用于黑色和白色纸板时呈现明亮的红色、良好的遮盖性和显著的闪光。
实施例4
重复实施例1,不同的是通过使用25ml五羰基铁在5小时内用氧化铁涂敷1.5kg片状体平均尺寸为22μm且片状体平均厚度为550nm的铝粉。
得到具有金色干涉色的明亮颜料粉末,在以含溶剂的CAB涂料体系施用于黑色和白色纸板时呈现明亮的金色、良好的遮盖性和显著的闪光。
实施例5
重复实施例1,不同的是通过使用330ml五羰基铁在7小时内用氧化铁涂敷1.5kg实施例4的铝粉。
得到具有红色干涉色的明亮颜料粉末,在以含溶剂的CAB涂料体系施用于黑色和白色纸板时呈现明亮的橙色、良好的遮盖性和显著的闪光。
实施例6
重复实施例1,不同的是通过使用1250ml五羰基铁在25小时内用氧化铁涂敷1.5kg实施例4的铝粉。
得到具有红色干涉色的明亮颜料粉末,在以含溶剂的CAB涂料体系施用于黑色和白色纸板时呈现明亮的红色、良好的遮盖性和显著的闪光。
Claims (10)
1.具有显著闪光的光泽颜料,其基于涂有氧化铁且在预涂敷状态下片状体平均尺寸为8-30μm、片状体平均厚度为300-600nm且纵横比为15-70的铝片状体。
2.根据权利要求1的光泽颜料,其基于纵横比为25-55的铝片状体。
3.根据权利要求1的光泽颜料,其基于片状体平均尺寸为13-25μm、片状体平均厚度为350-550nm且纵横比为25-55的铝片状体。
4.根据权利要求1-3中任何一项的光泽颜料,其包含几何层厚为18-25nm的氧化铁涂层。
5.根据权利要求1-3中任何一项的光泽颜料,其包含几何层厚为30-40nm的氧化铁涂层。
6.根据权利要求1-3中任何一项的光泽颜料,其包含几何层厚为110-140nm的氧化铁涂层。
7.根据权利要求1-6中任何一项的光泽颜料,其进一步包含直接位于铝片状体上和/或位于氧化铁层上的基于铬、钼、磷、硅、锆和/或铝的氧化物的缓蚀涂层。
8.根据权利要求1-7中任何一项的光泽颜料在对涂料、油漆、印刷油墨、塑料、陶瓷组合物和瓷釉以及装饰性化妆品制剂进行着色中的用途。
9.根据权利要求1-7中任何一项的光泽颜料在对单涂层、双涂层或多涂层金属进行着色中的用途。
10.根据权利要求8或9的用途,其中光泽颜料与选自随角异色效应颜料,荧光着色剂,遮盖和透明性的彩色、白色和黑色颜料的其他颜料结合使用。
