Description

  

  Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen Gemisches     quaternärer          Ammoniumverbindnngen.       Es wurde gefunden, dass man zu einem  neuen Gemisch     quaternärer        Ammoniumver-          bindungen    gelangt, wenn man das Gemisch  der     a-Chlormethyläther    aus der handelsüb  lichen Mischung von normalem     Hexadecyl-          und        Octadecylalkohol    mit einem     Alkalisalz     der     Monochloressigsäure    und darauf mit     Pyri-          din    behandelt.  



  Das neue Gemisch der     quaternären    Am  moniumverbindungen stellt eine feste     Masse     dar, die von Wasser zu einer beim Schütteln  schäumenden Lösung aufgenommen wird.  Das neue Produkt kann als     Textilhilfsstoff,     insbesondere zum waschechten Weichmachen  von Textilien verwendet werden.  



       Beispiel:     Eine handelsübliche Mischung aus vor  wiegend     Octadecylalkohol    und einer gerin  geren Menge     Hexadecylalkohol    wird in üb  licher Weise in den     a-Chlormethyläther    über  geführt. 20 Gewichtsteile des so erhaltenen    a -     Chlormethyläthers,        gp.        s   <B>183-1880</B> wer  den in einem mit Rührwerk versehenen Ge  fäss allmählich zu 9,4 Gewichtsteilen fein  pulverisiertem     Kaliumchloracetat        hinzufliessen     gelassen, wobei man das Rührwerk sobald  wie möglich in Gang setzt.

   Die Temperatur  des sich langsam erwärmenden Reaktions  gemisches wird zweckmässig unter 40' ge  halten. Man rührt darauf während 4 Stunden  bei     30-35'    und während 3 Stunden bei       35-40'.    Der in fast quantitativer Ausbeute  entstandene Ester der Chloressigsäure kann  dem Reaktionsprodukt durch Extraktion mit  einem Lösungsmittel, zum Beispiel     Diäthyl-          äther    oder Benzol, entzogen werden und  stellt eine farblose, feste Masse dar.

   Zur  Umwandlung in das     quaternäre        Pyridinium-          chlorid    löst man den     Ohloressigsäureester    in  der gleichen Menge     Pyridin,    lässt einige Tage  stehen, trennt die sich allmählich ausschei  dende     Pyridiniumverbindung    von der Mutter  lauge und trocknet dieselbe bei niedriger Tem-           peratur.    Mau erhält eine feste     brasse,    die von  etwa 401 warmem Wasser zu einer beire  Schütteln schäumenden Lösung aufgenommen  wird.  



  Das so dargestellte     Pyridiniumehlorid     eignet sich insbesondere zum     Weichmachen     von Textilien aus natürlichen oder künst  lichen Fasern, wie Baumwolle, Wolle,     Vis-          kosekunstseide.

  The new mixture of quaternary ammonium compounds is a solid mass that is absorbed by water to form a foaming solution when shaken. The new product can be used as a textile auxiliary, in particular to soften textiles.



       Example: A commercial mixture of predominantly octadecyl alcohol and a smaller amount of hexadecyl alcohol is converted into the α-chloromethyl ether in the usual way. 20 parts by weight of the α-chloromethyl ether thus obtained, gp. s <B> 183-1880 </B> who gradually add 9.4 parts by weight of finely powdered potassium chloroacetate to a vessel equipped with a stirrer, starting the stirrer as soon as possible.

The ester of chloroacetic acid, which is produced in almost quantitative yield, can be removed from the reaction product by extraction with a solvent, e.g. diethyl ether or benzene, and is a colorless, solid mass.

   To convert it into the quaternary pyridinium chloride, the chloroacetic acid ester is dissolved in the same amount of pyridine, left to stand for a few days, the gradually separating pyridinium compound is separated from the mother liquor and dried at low temperature. Mau receives a firm bream, which is taken up in about 40 l of warm water to a foaming solution when shaken.



  The pyridinium chloride shown in this way is particularly suitable for softening textiles made from natural or artificial fibers, such as cotton, wool, viscose rayon.
