Description

Process for the preparation of a 3-toneazo dye. It has been found that a valuable red monoazo dye is formed when the diazo compound of 1-amino-2-sulfobenzene-5-carboxylic acid is combined with β-naphthol.

Example: -13.1 kg of 1-amino-2-sulfobenzene-5-carboxylic acid are distributed in 1000 liters of water and, after addition of 25 kg of 30% hydrochloric acid, diazotized with 13.8 kg of sodium nitrite at 10%. In the diazo compound made almost neutral by adding sodium hydroxide solution to the Congo paper runs: a solution of 29 kg ss-naphtol with 8 kg; N atrium hydroxide in 100 liters of water and then a solution of 10 kg of soda.

After the coupling has ended, the dye is precipitated at <B> 60 '</B> with potassium chloride, filtered and dried. The dye is a red powder, soluble in water with an orange-yellow color, and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a fuchsin-red color. With clay and barium, he creates vibrant yellow-red lacquers.

PATENT CLAIM: Process for the preparation of a red monoazo dye, characterized in that the diazo compound of 1-amino-2-sulfobenzene-5-carboxylic acid is combined with ß-naphthol. The dye is a red powder, soluble in water with an orange-yellow color, in concentrated sulfuric acid with a fuchsin-red color. With clay and barium he gives lively yellow-red lacquers.
