Novos polinucleotídeos e polipeptídeos isolados associados com o caminho biosintético de lignina são fornecidos, juntos com construções incluindo tais seq³ências. Métodos para a modulação de conteúdo de lignina, estrutura de lignina e composição de lignina em organismos alvos são também revelados, os métodos compreendendo incorporar um ou mais dos polinucleotídeos da presente invenção do genoma de um organismo alvo.
