Abstract

Isolated DNA sequences associated with the lignin biosynthetic pathway are provided such as 4-coumarate:Co ligase (4CL)], together with DNA constructs including such sequences. Methods for the modulation of lignin content in plants are also disclosed, the methods comprising incorporating one or more of the DNA sequences or a sequence complementary to a DNA sequence into the genome of a plant.
