Abstract
The invention relates to a process for pulling a pipe (2)laid and/or to be laid in the ground to a trench below andaccessible from ground level, in which there is a traction systemin engagement with a traction component (3). The tractioncomponent (3) is taken through the pipe and engaged with its rearend, viewed in the pulling direction. The traction component (3)with the pipe is then drawn to the trench in steps by the tractionsystem, with the traction device making a forward and a backwardstroke at each step. During the backward stroke the tractioncomponent (3) is kept under a tension corresponding to its elasticexpansion during the forward stroke. In this way the tractioncomponent (3) is kept permanently under tension throughout thepulling process, thus preventing the traction component fromalternately expanding and contracting at each step. In a preferreddevice for implementing this process, the traction component hascatches (4) with a predetermined spacing and the traction systemhas a pulling member (12) which engages with one of the catchesduring the forward stroke and a retainer (l7) which is engagedwith one of the catches during the backward stroke.39 claims, 8 figures
