Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>
 pour: "PALETTE POUR BOITE EN CARTON ET ENSEMBLE BOITE-
PALETTE"

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>
 for: "PALLET FOR CARDBOARD BOX AND BOX ASSEMBLY-
PALETTE"
To conveniently lift loads, forklifts are often used fitted with a fork which is introduced under a plate specially designed for this purpose and called a "pallet", the load to be lifted having been previously placed on this pallet.

   So that we can introduce the fork of the lift truck under the pallet, the latter has voids which open out laterally.

   The invention relates to a pallet of simple and light construction intended to support boxes.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 of cardboard such as, for example, corrugated cardboard packaging boxes.

   The object of the invention is to provide a pallet capable of being, at will, made integral with the box 'for use, or detached from the latter for transport. In addition, the pallet according to the invention can be mounted on the bottom of the box without the aid of any external fixing member such as staples or adhesive tapes, or even without it being necessary to glue the pallet to the bottom of the cardboard box.

   Thanks to this arrangement, we have. the ability to transport, on the one hand, 'the boxes unfolded and stacked flat' one on top of the other and, on the other hand, the cakes, also stacked on top of each other, that is, that is to say under 1 '' minimum bulk of these two @ objects. When in use, nothing is simpler than assembling the pallets on the crates.

   'La.palette according to the invention can be' used with all cardboard boxes whose bottom has two parallel slots on two opposite edges, and in particular, cardboard boxes of the so-called "American" type. - say of the parallelepipedic type whose bottom is formed by four extensions of the side faces of the box, folded into a common plane perpendicular to themselves.

   The pallet according to the invention consists of a rectangular base plate of the same dimensions as the bottom of the box to which the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 pallet is intended and which carries, through a number of studs, a top sheet of cardboard, for example corrugated cardboard, which in one direction has the same dimension as said base plate and in the same direction. 'other direction, a dimension larger than said base plate so as to form two flaps along two fold lines, arranged in line with the corresponding edges of said base plate, said flaps being intended to be slipped respectively into the two aforementioned slots in the bottom of the box to keep the pallet assembled on the box.

   Given the presence of the base plate and the top sheet, the two sides of the pallet are smooth and the studs do not risk, consequently, to catch between them during the transport of the pallets, moreover, one realizes a very rigid set despite its lightness.

   In a preferred embodiment, all the elements of the pallet are made of corrugated cardboard, including the studs, each of which is formed from a strip of corrugated cardboard wound up on itself, said studs being glued by their two ends on the plate. base and on the top sheet of the pallet.

   The invention also relates to, as a new industrial product, packaging boxes provided with pallets such as the aforementioned pallets.

   The invention will be better understood on reading the following description of an embodiment of the invention and on examining the appended drawings in which:

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

Figure 1 shows in perspective a pallet according to the invention.

   La-Figure 2, a cardboard boot ready to receive the pallet of Figure 1.

   Figures 3 and 4 show, in section, two stages of assembly of the cardboard box of Figure 2 on the pallet of Figure 1. '
Figure 5 shows, in perspective, the cardboard box mounted on the pallet.

   , Figure 6 is a section of a paddle of the pallet taken along line-6-6 of Figure 4.

   We have shown in the drawing; by way of example, a model of a cardboard box capable of receiving a pallet according to the invention. This box, shown in FIG. 2, is of parallelepipedal shape, the bottom of which is constituted, like the cover moreover, by four extensions of the lateral faces of the box folded down in a common plane perpendicular to themselves. Two of said extensions, namely extensions 1 and 2 in Figure 2, are on the outside of the box, while the other two 3 and 4 (see also Figure 3) are on the inside.

   The pallet according to the invention consists of a base plate 5 (Figure 1), for example corrugated cardboard which supports, by a number of pads 6, a cardboard sheet 7 which can also be corrugated cardboard. The base plate 5 is rectangular in shape and has exactly the same dimensions as the bottom of the cardboard box which is to be fitted with a pallet. The cardboard sheet 7 has the same width as

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 base plate 5, but in the other direction it is longer than this to form two flaps
8.9. The flap 8 is shown applied to the cardboard sheet 7 while the flap 9 is shown slightly raised. For the transport of the pallet, the two flaps 8 and 9 are placed flat on the cardboard sheet 7, like the flap 8.

   Preferably, each of the flaps 8 and 9 is given a length equal to half the length of the pallet so that these two flaps do not partially overlap when they are folded flat on the pallet. A neat and protruding assembly is thus produced which is easy to store for transport, and the flaps of the pallet have a relatively large length ensuring a good fixing of the pallet on the box.

   The pads 6 are formed, preferably, by strips of corrugated cardboard rolled up on themselves, as shown at the stern in Figure 6 and glued, by their edge, on the base plate 5 and on the upper cardboard sheet 7 The assembly obtained, although very light, is very rigid, and the pads, held at their two ends, do not run the risk of unwinding.

   To fix a pallet, such as the one just described, on a cardboard box, one raises, against the internal faces of the box to which they are connected, the two interior flaps 3, 4 (Figure 4) which form part of the bottom of the box, then the two flaps 8 and 9 of the pallet are threaded between the side slits of the two outer flaps 1 and 2

 bottom of the box and the faces of the two raised flaps 3 and 4, until the top cardboard sheet 7 comes to rest against the outer face of the @. two outer flaps 1 and 2 from the bottom.

   To immobilize the pallet on the box, simply fold up the flaps 8 and 9 of the pallet in the direction of the arrows (Figure 4) so that they lie flat on the inner face of the outer flaps 1 and 2 of the bottom, .then to fold in their turn the flaps 3 and 4 of the box on the flaps 8 and 9 of the pallet. From this moment, the pallet is integral with the box, because its flaps 8 and 9 are trapped between the outer and inner flaps of the bottom of the box and the box-pallet assembly is presented as shown in Figure 5.

   We see that we thus achieve a very light box-pallet assembly whose transport is easy. The assembly of this assembly is very simple and does not require glue, staples or similar assembly elements.

   In the drawing, there is shown a pallet with four entries for the lifting fork which will be introduced between the studs to lift the full box. It is obvious that any suitable arrangement desired other than that shown in the drawing could be adopted.

   It is also possible to provide on the flaps 8 and 9 of the pallet folds parallel to the fold forming the hinge which connects them to the top sheet 7, so as to facilitate the introduction of these flaps.

 in the box (see Figure 3) by bending them, as shown in phantom at 9 '.

   Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown, it is capable of numerous variants accessible to those skilled in the art, depending on the applications envisaged, without departing for this from the field of the invention.
