Abstract
Una estructura flotante para la perforación y producción mar adentro que incluye medios para incrementar el período natural de la estructura y reducirel movimiento, cabeceo y balance sin aumentar la longitud total de la estructura. Estaes autoflotante mediante tanques de flotación y se mantienenen posición mediante líneas de amarre. La estructura posee un pozo central a través del que pasan los elevadores de producción y/o perforación. Una o másplacas se extienden radialmentede sde la estructura por debajo de la superficie de agua. Las placas proporcionan masa y resistencia adicionales contra losmovimientos inducidos por el medio ambiente y así aumentan el período natural de la estructura más allá del período demáxima en ergía de oleaje. Esto permiteque la estructura esté disenada con un calado menos profundo que la estructura sin las placas que normalmente serían empleadas en aguas profundas.
