>>120497Some of the world's best modelers and concept artists can't draw to save their lives, but they can model like gods.
Sculpting in a program like Zbrush or Mudbox also allows one to create concept art that can, to some extent, be used in a 3D modeling application to recreate the model for film or game purposes.
That said, don't care who you are or what you do, I think you're full of it. Anyone that is going to get anywhere in the CG industry (read: actually wants to) will have the intelligence to whip up their favorite search engine and search for resources on any given application(s) they might be using.
Beyond that, with a modeling program as your tool, all you need is to be familiar with how to use it and then some creativity. Good practices, tricks to speed things up and efficiency can be learned given time and experience.
"Spend hours reading a book or years experimenting" doesn't apply to all things and/or all people.
As for your list of resources, sure, fine, thanks. For the advice, sure, fine, thanks. Still think you're an asshat though, Dan.
