This paper highlights the MOOC initiatives in open access education environment across a globe
with special reference to India. Open education resourses, open access, online open courseware are the
main components to promote open university with the help of MOOC platform by the various service
providers. MOOC List is open access (OA) aggregator (directory) of Massive Open Online Courses
(MOOCs) from different providers. MOOC List is a website where you can find free online courses
(MOOCs) offered by the best universities around the world. For this purpose, MOOC List directory was
studied to find their growth rate, country, subject-wise distribution as well as total courses available in
Indian education systems in MOOC within verious MOOC platforms.

This paper highlights the library and information science literature in open access environment
across a globe. There are two main routes to provide open access to scholarly literature. One is
Open Access (OA) journals and another is through placing articles published in OA archives
or repositories. For this purpose, (Directory of Open Access Repositories) OpenDOAR and
Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ) was studied to find their growth rate, continent ,
country, language wise distribution as well as total items available and OAI-PMH supported
repositories.

The paper outlines the opportunities that Learning Object (LO) has put forward for teaching and learning. Focusing on a particular aspect of learning object retrieval system i.e., design and develop the mechanism of learning object on library and information science learning object (LISLO) using open source software (Greenstone) and open standards (IEEE LOM), the paper discusses about the online and offline CD ROM product and services of LISLO. It enhances modified IEEE LOM metadata incorporation for digital archiving and retrieval system using Greenstone Metadata schema (GEMS).

" Cloud computing comes in several different forms and this research paper discusses how service, platform and infrastructure forms of cloud computing have been used to serve library needs. Following an overview of these uses the experience of one library in migrating IT infrastructure to a cloud environment and concludes with a model for assessing cloud computing. Development of cloud computing for integrated library management and retrieval system on the basis of global recommendation include Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Open Library Environment Project (OLE) and the recommendation of Integrated Library System for Discovery Interface (ILS-DI); and in this regard, the most comprehensive open source software for designing and developing the Internet based services is selected.

Key words: Cloud computing, information mash-up, Web 2.0 and open source software."

"This paper attempts to design a framework for comparison of standards available in public domain and implementation of standards facilities in open source ILSs. The framework is mainly based on recommendations given by ILS-DI and IFLA Working Group on the area under consideration. It takes into account global standards like metadata, interoperability, digital preservation, web access and application programming interface etc. Two open source ILSs (from the matured block of ILSs) namely NewGenLib and Koha are compared against a set of parameters related with standards and drawn from global recommendations.
Keywords: Integrated library system, Standards, Digital Preservation and ILS software"
