Also just to address some things you were wondering:
Blue bubbles move at the "normal" speed, green bubbles are faster, yellow/brownish ones are slower.
The score is maxed out at +99, but bouncing on a x2 bubble will give you 198 points for that bounce only.
The hitbox is technically at the feet, which is why your head can go through stuff. I didn't want the player to bounce and instantly hit their head on a mine, though I'm unsure if using a feet hitbox was the best for this.
I have a new build that spawns in slower waves to keep things less chaotic, so I will update the game to that version once the voting period is over.
I couldn't find that game that was similar to mine that you mentioned, so you if happen to find it I would love to take a look! I'd love to see how it plays and what I can learn from it.

Fun game! Makes use of the theme well. One small exploit is that by holding space and staying at the top, the player will never get hit, so a high score can be had by staying at the top and waiting for the other balloon to come up to shoot bombs and get points, which can be done forever I believe. This should be an easy fix for you after the jam if you'd like. Overall, great work!
Very relaxing and enjoyable to play! I really like the upgrade system. My only recommendation would be to have more rules for which upgrades you can choose from. For example, I had to choose between adding 1 HP or adding 1/2 HP, which is a no brainer. Besides that, this was very fun and you did a great job!
