This engaging book addresses the question of how diverse communities, whether in a nation, city or organization, can live together and prosper whilst retaining and enjoying their cultural differences. This is a particularly pertinent issue in the context of the modern world where mass migration and immigration are pervasive global phenomena.

European Union (EU) institutions in general and the European External Action Service (EEAS) in particular are working towards a new strategy on international cultural relations. How do European institutions and member states manage to cooperate, in a context of cultural and ideological difference, power discrepancies and national agendas? Our paper intends to analyse three main themes: history and evolutions of cultural diplomacy and external cultural relations in Europe, external cultural praxis of national institutes and the emergence of a shared vision and new practices in EU external relations through the EUNIC network (EU national institutes of culture. We are analysing conceptual coherence and consistency based on theoretical frameworks, underpinning it with empirical, qualitative research findings. We are questioning the current approach of "adding up" national models to a common denominator. We wish to open up the discussion of a paradigm change in cultural diploma...

European Union (EU) is a supra-ideological construct in permanent change. Changing times bring the European External Action Service (EEAS) to its cultural strategy. EU external cultural strategy with the complexity of political and social realities defines the two main steps followed in this study: a) EU intercultural strategy analysis, and b) the role and the place of EU Delegations (EU Dels) and the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC). The basis of the analysis is the qualitative approach. It analyses various institutional manifestations of power and status discrepancies in the EU on a macro and micro institutional level. How does the EU manage to communicate its values and identity in a context of potential cultural and ideological differences? Does ”wanting to understand the other” seem neglected, whereas ”wanting to get understood“ seems to have become an EU intercultural attitude driver? The aim of this paper is to identify the process and relevance of EU cu...

This research will try to illustrate the relationship between intercultural educational dimension of the Participatory Art Projects (PAP) and the role it plays in cultural policy strategies. This research argues that intercultural dimension and PAP are interdependent. Comparative analysis of different european experiences will try to show the impact of their participatory and inclusive practices. Cultural practices of PAP are in the core of the creation of a communities through its intercultural contribution. PAP projects are playing important role for the establishment of the sustainable and quality relations among diverse groups of population.
The research investigated emphasis of intercultural dialogue in terms of what is the substance of PAP and under which conditions is it likely that it can affect European cultural policy instruments? It is essential in order to understand the multicultural Europe and in deciding where the cultural policy attempts of intercultural PAP should take a place with impact they play in local and national level.

The texts mentioned in this work are an insights into social, economic, political and cultural impacts on education and modern understanding of diversities in our societies.
The analysis points to which extent cultural differences have been evolving into scope of strategies through a time period which connects the past and the present. This represents several references - cultural differences, racism and activism of progressive change - to critical questioning of how it was previously and how it is nowadays a picture of multicultural societies through educational lenses.

The EU motto “United in diversity” might sound abstract or even utopian. However, as we are zooming into the working relationships and collaboration modes within EU institutions and partner organizations, we are gaining new insights about its meaning and how it is reflected in European teams, which are composed of individuals from various national backgrounds. We are more particularly exploring examples in the context of European external action and cultural diplomacy. This also allows us identify interfaces between EU staff and non-European staff and partners, e.g. in European delegations abroad. We are focusing on value and identity related statements on the institutional mezzo-level, comparing it to the institutions official discourse and decreed values on a macro level. To further identify centripetal and centrifugal forces caused by this specific organizational context, we are superposing micro-level statements from European citizens outside these institutions who are from comparable social backgrounds and also working internationally.

The book Cultural Diplomacy and Cultural Relations: Collaboration/ Diversity / Dialogue consists mainly of papers presented at the international scientific conference at the University of Arts in Belgrade in 2022. This book offers an inter-disciplinary insight into reflections on the part of cultural policy that relates to the establishment of contemporary international cultural relations, from conceptual reflections to case studies that demonstrate the complexity of the concepts of cultural diplomacy and cultural relations, as well as their practices. The book addresses several questions: How is cultural diplomacy understood and constructed in the contemporary context? How is cultural diplomacy perceived beyond the notions of soft power? Why are cultural representations of high significance for contemporary cultural diplomacies and cultural policies as such? Is culture an instrument in promoting foreign policy interests, or is it a field that enables inter-social and inter-cultural connections at different levels? What are the possible strategies of identity politics in the context of cultural diplomacy representations?

Ethical dimensions with the media are also related to the intercultural awareness. This research attempts to explores what role EU diversity and its intercultural image play in the process of constructing its supranational European identity. This is fuelled by the European Union's concern with culture as one of the main driving forces for constructing European identity. Europe is also seen as representing "Unity in diversity ". The aim of this research is to examine the ethical impact of internal video production of European Union institutional ad-Growing together-EU Enlargement ad. The European Commission has been forced to withdraw a high-budget video promoting the EU enlargement being accused of depicting other cultures in a racist manner. Through this ad as a case study, this paper will try to demonstrate, what the pop media diversity practice might bring to the society in terms of ethical respectful representation of its citizens in relation with outside Europe. Some of the cultural management theory and practice might offer concepts that can lead to the desired achievement of a common EU identity while not suppressing the values and cultural identity of each member states trying to answer in the same time the question of whether or not the EU has a potential of handling it consciously and becoming innovative in achieving its intercultural policy. Paper will tried to show what may happen and actually happened if the need for mutual respect and understanding was ignored. Does a no-physical-borders policy really lead to a " no borders " identity amongst EU citizens? And if so, does this change its external intercultural strategies.
