    Turkiye’de 1990’lardan beri dini hayata dair saha arastirmalari yapilmaktadir. Bu arastirmalarin bulgulari, Turk halkinin buyuk bir cogunlugunun dini inanca sahip oldugunu ve kendisini dindar olarak gordugunu gostermektedir. Ayni zamanda bu bulgular halkin yine onemli bir kisminin kendisini modern olarak nitelendirdigine de isaret etmektedir. Turk halkinin tecrubesi modernlikle dindarligin celismeyecegi bir hayat tarzinin mumkun oldugunu gostermistir. Bu makale Turkiye’deki dini hayatin modernlesme-sekulerlesme etkilesimindeki donusumunu ele almaktadir. Turk halki, reform, feodalizm, endustrilesme, bilimsel ilerlemeler ve sehirlesme gibi modernizmin temel parametrelerini Avrupa’dan farkli yasamis, bu da onun sekulerlesme tecrubesini Bati ulkelerinden farklilastirmistir.
