Neste artigo,
This article originated from the episode “Quanto custa ou é por
quilo?” from the podcast “Ninguém nos perguntou, mas...” produced by
the authors. Podcasts has become an important communication tool,
including for scientific dissemination, consisting a privileged mean for
this, especially in times of the COVID-19 Pandemic, when visual digital
media have become saturating. Therefore, the three authors of this
article decided to use the podcast as a heritage education tool, aiming
to bring archaeology closer to the general public, simplifying it. In this
article, a special episode is brought up, dedicated to debating heritage
education linked to archaeology projects in environmental licensing. It
seeks to make a balance, a reflection on how to carry out this heritage education, reporting the experiences, tunes and mismatches between
the practice and what the legislation presents, considering the duration
of environmental licenses, the pressure of capital and the aspirations
for education heritage that gives real prominence to the communities.
Resume: The city of São Paulo (Brazil) is an urban archeological site, multicomponential, buried and with registered occupation from Prehistory. With the increasing and continuous underground interventions promoted by civil construction works, the archaeological heritage emerges and gradually reveals the past occupations. Of these occupations, those that prove to be a challenge for management, due to ethical, ethnic and identity issues, are those associated with mortuary contexts. The emblematic example was the rediscovery of the cemetery of the Aflitos (1775-1858) in 2018, hence proving that, despite the intense occupation of urban space, the archaeological potential of the city is also high in this specific context. Thus, and as it was noted an absence of data compiled from an archaeological perspective for the city of São Paulo (Brazil), it is proposed, with this work, the creation of archaeological map of the mortuary spaces. This will be prepared based on the consultation and systematization of primary and secondary bibliographic sources and historical cartography, delimiting not only the mortuary spaces, but also the location of the skeletal remains and the associated collection, when available. This study will cover the current geographical limits of the city of São Paulo (Brazil), with the temporality between Prehistory and the appearance of the first public cemeteries. In addition to the construction of the archaeological map, the relevance of archaeological interventions in these contexts, the fate of skeletal remnants and the archaeological collection, as well as the social responsibility of archeology in such sensitive contexts will be discussed.

ABSTRACT: Urban archeology in São Paulo, through the work of preventive archeology, has revealed a hidden city whose records of human occupation go back to prehistory. The areas where occupations have been most evident are the banks of rivers and streams, especially with regard to the category of historical sites with chronological intervals between the last quarter of the 19th century and the third quarter of the 20th century. With the advent of the massive industrialization of São Paulo, rivers and streams, as well as their surrounding areas, became places of living and waste disposal, since at the same time they served to obtain sustenance, they also received garbage and the dirty waters of residences and factories. In this sense, the site Córrego da Mooca is a testimony of this new urbanity and its actors, opening a window to the past of a region little explored from the archaeological point of view.
