The paper deals with the perception and image of the town Cheb in the context of historical heritage. Since 2017, the town has been running a tour of historic trusses. The aim of the research was to determine the influence of this activity on the image of the town, or whether the historic roofs already form part of the image of the town at least for some Czech residents and citizens. So far, the image of the city has not been systematically investigated. Two surveys have been carried out, one among the city residents and one among the citizens of the Czech Republic. It was found that the city of Cheb is associated with historical heritage in the minds of the respondents. However, outside the town of Cheb the historical trusses are not yet sufficiently associated with the perception of it. The article also presents a semantic differential with citizens' perception of the town of Cheb.

Paper deals with motivation to trave...

Satisfaction of visitors in tourism destinations is one of the most discussed topics in destination management and marketing. Many destinations report high satisfaction of their visitors. The objective of this study is to analyze overall satisfaction and satisfaction components in eleven tourism areas within South Bohemia, a typical Czech rural region, and to define the high level of satisfaction using benchmarking as a methodological approach. Using ANOVA and Pearson’s correlation, we identified the high level of satisfaction following the against-the-best benchmarking and the against-the-industry average approach. The results also show that perceived atmosphere in a destination, willingness to help and friendliness are the most significant components correlating with overall satisfaction.

Christmas is considered as a traditional holiday, but also a time of excessive consumption of various goods and services. During this time, there are various events that are often used to commercialization of culture around the world. Traditional Christmas markets, tak more attention also in the Czech Republic. They came to the Czech Republic from neighboring German-speaking countries. Today, visitors to all major tourist attractions can visit one or several Christmas markets that are thematically different and offer almost everything a visitor may wish for. Smaller towns and municipalities have begun to use this habit. However, the range of these events is smaller and their purpose is mostly for meeting residents each other and for a certain form of PR. Nor is it otherwise in the case of Cheb. The paper compares the evaluation of visitors to the Christmas markets between 2016 and 2017. The aim of the survey is to find out the social and traditionaly cultural value of Christmas mark...

Czech border regions differ greatly in the socio-economical, demographical and natural areas. Tourism in the border regions is a very important part of the economy, because of the character of the landscape. Nature in connection with the culture potential creates very attractive regions for the development of the relatively new economic industry – tourism. Currently, the best known tourism destinations have problems with crowding and travel is become a megatrend. Czech border regions have a good absorbing capacity for tourists and in these rural regions there are good conditions for the sustainable development of rural and nature-oriented tourism. We focus on the tourism field in three Czech border regions: the Pilsen, Karlovy Vary, and Usti regions. We compare three regions on the Czech/German border

There are many of strategies of cooperation, e.g. strategic alliance, cluster, joint venture etc. Tourism, this is the field, where cooperation is needed more often. There are tendencies for cooperation between private sector, public sector and even between private and public sector like well-known public-private-partnership. This article is focused on the topic of cooperation in tourism field in Pilsen region and identifies main motives and barriers in cooperation there. Questionnaire survey had been used to get needed information about current state of cooperation. Results of survey show good relationship between public sector and private sector and also between public subjects each another. Relations inside public sector are not good and close enough and there is definitely space for improvement. This article describes one specific example of current state of cooperation in region/destination only. Further research should be focused on bigger regions and comparison.

The paper evaluates the statistical monitoring of accommodation facilities in Czech Republic and its use in destinačním management. This article tries to point out deficiencies in current monitoring of tourist offer, which has a major impact on the work destination management organizations. For the current destination management, this means that they can not rely on the official register of accommodation, but it is necessary to carry out monitoring using best field research. This study attempts to provide first tentative insights into the audience reception of intertwining of political satire and destination marketing imagery by analysing the “America First, the Netherlands Second” video and a student sample audience response. In 2017, a series of YouTube videos named “America First” went viral. The video that started the viral phenomenon was “America First, the Netherlands Second”, responding in a satirical manner to the “America First” message of the inaugural speech of U.S. president Donald J. Trump. They reached extreme popularity both in number of views and in number of new memetic videos with similar satirical messages. These videos were a form of political expression and at first sight did not seem to have much in common with communication in tourism. However, the videos included typical destination marketing imagery, intertwined with satirical representations and thus representing a humorous “spoof” on destination marketing. Currently, not much ...
