Educational goals and learning outcomes can be linked successfully by integrating appropriate assessment practices to align with the teaching and learning targets. This study seeks to explore teachers’ perceptions about assessment types and to investigate the extent to which teachers use assessment results to seek improvement of education. Thus, Mixed methods approach was conducted through collecting both quantitative and qualitative data by using a questionnaire and interviews. Results found that although teachers have acquired clear knowledge about the meaning and types of assessment, they still focus more on written quizzes as their main formative assessment and designing final exams as their summative assessment. Subsequently, the assessment data are mainly used to assign students’ grades. This study suggested that evidence-based assessment research should seriously be used to make decisions about assessment strategies and the follow up on its sequences to reduce the gap between teachers’ beliefs and their actual practices.

There has been a great emphasis on the relationship between teaching strategies and curriculum implementation processes where teachers are the actual implementers of the curriculum. Thus, their choices of the suitable teaching strategies represent the quality of teaching offered to learners. The purpose of the study is to investigate the predominant teaching strategies used by science, mathematics, and technology (SMT)-teachers in US curriculum schools in UAE and to identify the most effective factors that influence their way to select these SMT-teaching strategies. A mixed method approach is adopted to fulfil the purpose of the study by conducting an online questionnaire for teachers and a face-to-face interview with the schools' academic supervisors. The results revealed that teachers in UAE are recently applying what is called 'engaging lectures' where both traditional and innovative teaching strategies are combined. Additionally, the main factors that drive teachers to select their teaching strategies are identified.

There has been a great concern about the leadership roles of teachers and how this effectively contribute to the success of the schools and learners as well. This paper investigates teachers’ perceptions about their potential to be teacher leaders, identifies the main attributes of teacher leadership and explores the main strategies that promote the development of teacher leadership. An online survey study was conducted as a nonexperimental method to answer the research questions with more weight of quantitative than qualitative data. Results show that there is a good potential for teachers to act as leaders who believed that associated abilities of leaders’ ethics and interpersonal skills are the most powerful tools for teacher leadership. This study suggests that policy makers should reduce the demarcation of roles and work on distributing the tasks of teacher leadership among the community of teachers to be included in their job description in order to generate responsible teache...

STEM education has been emphasized in the UAE education reform because science, technology, mathematics and engineering are considered as the main disciplines that reflect the development of a country's economic situation. Although STEM education benefits all students, its professions do not stimulate them all. Students have the right to pursue any other career that satisfy their ambition. For more effective STEM implementation in its early stage in the UAE, there is a need for a practical E-STEM model to guide STEM educators to integrate entrepreneurial practices into their existing STEM courses to enhance students' entrepreneurial act.

Acting in an entrepreneurial way and exercising entrepreneurial competencies are essential in the current society because of its uncertainty and constant change. That is why it is contended that enhancing students’ abilities to design innovative products and being able to deliver them to the market become a priority in the educational sector. A sequential exploratory mixed method was conducted to collect both qualitative and quantitative data needed to fulfill the purpose of the study. The theoretical perspective adopted relies on education through entrepreneurship where the aim of interdisciplinary E-STEM learning is to incorporate entrepreneurial practices into STEM education in high school. Focus group interviews were employed to explore STEM leaders’ views regarding incorporating entrepreneurial practices into STEM education. Variables identified were used to develop a questionnaire for STEM teachers to investigate their perceptions regarding current STEM practices that enhance students’ entrepreneurial skills. Academic leaders believed in infusing entrepreneurial pedagogies into existing STEM curriculum with the constant support of business teachers because they are more aware of entrepreneurial learning activities than other teachers in school. Conclusions from the study argue that compe-tency-based approach is preferable to implement E-STEM learning because it allows for a new situated learning platform where value creation practices could be integrated with project-based problem-solving practices in the UAE.

Inquiry-based learning (IBL) represents the student-centered approach that focuses on encouraging learners to scientifically construct new knowledge. The study aimed to explain science teachers’ and students’ perceptions about applying IBL in a private school in Dubai. Furthermore, to explore the degree to which the science textbook of Grade 8 promotes inquiry instruction. A mixed-method approach was applied where two questionnaires were conducted and an evaluation rubric was used to analyze the textbook to explore the extent to which it supports IBL. The findings revealed that teachers showed progress in applying inquiry instruction and students became more engaged in learning.

A great emphasis now is put on engaging students in STEM education as an active learning approach that motivates them to be enrolled in science and engineering careers. This study seeks to investigate the extent to which science teachers are ready to implement STEM practices and to explain STEM barriers based on their opinions. Besides, exploring the most important factors that influence their STEM curriculum planning. Accordingly, a quantitative non-experimental survey study is conducted to recruit high school science teachers in UAE.  Results found that in spite of teachers’ inadequate familiarity with the STEM content, most of the science teachers show interest in teaching STEM. Limited class time and resources appeared as the most significant influences that affect STEM curriculum plan. This study suggests that STEM policy should be stated explicitly in UAE with a unified guide to accelerate the development of STEM disciplines and meet the innovative expectations.

Teaching Strategies are critical practices that directly influence students' learning and their outcomes. Thus, science reform emphasized that implementing inquiry-based learning instruction is essential for students to construct new knowledge and provide them with meaningful learning opportunities to formulate successfully scientific investigations. The purpose of this study is to explore how high school teachers implement inquiry instruction in mathematics and chemistry classes in a private school in Dubai. Qualitative data were collected in a case study to compare the inquiry implementation in these two subjects. The study found that all inquiry components existed in both of them. However, inquiry practices could be more efficient when more opportunities are given to students to become more independent learners.
