This study is centered on the human resource management strategies and organizational crisis in Akwa Ibom Transport Company (AKTC). Two objectives were designed for the study along with two research questions as well as two research hypotheses. Survey research design and simple random sampling techniques were used in the study. The population of the study comprised of 237 employees of AKTC and the same number was used for the sample through the Census size determination technique. Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) analysis was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Results from the analysis showed that collaboration has positive and significant relationship with organizational crisis in AKTC; and restructuring has positive and significant relationship with organizational crisis in AKTC. Using a Survey research design, 380 respondents were

Findings revealed that entrepreneurship culture has positive and significant relationship with development of business entrepreneurs in Uyo metropolis (r = 0.856, p.<0.05); and government policy has a positive and significant relationship with development of business entrepreneurs in Uyo metropolis (r = 0.746, p. <0.05). New Ventures are the major contributors to the development of the economy of many nations especially in terms of job creation and revenue generation. However, they are plagued with high mortality rate of which one of the culprits is lack of succession planning. Reliable electricity supply is a vital tool for successful operations of entrepreneurial businesses. However, unreliable power supply is one of the greatest problems confronting business activities in Nigeria. Although several research works have been done on the subject, none of such studies have examined power failure and entrepreneurial behaviour of entrepreneurs in Akwa Ibom State. There is little evidence to show that Nigerian leading Organizations undertake Succession Planning. Extant literature has pointed out that failure to practice succession planning leads to failure to take advantage of the diversity that Nigeria has, as almost all recent public appointments are disputed and sometimes end in court. More disturbing is that the growth of Nigerian Institutions remain abysmal as lack of succession planning reduces the scope for leadership development and planning, leading to problems of business continuity and growth. Hence, this study seeks to examine if entrepreneurs in Akwa Ibom State practice succession planning and the type of succession planning they practice. Using a purposive sampling method, 129 Employees of selected organizations were examined. Findings reveal that entrepreneurs in Akwa Ibom State, do some extent practice succession and that majority of them practice more of internal succession plan using a feedback system, active learning, job assignments, performance review, coaching, mentoring and training among others to enable employees take over key vacant positions in the firm.

Reliable electricity supply is a vital tool for successful operations of entrepreneurial businesses. However, unreliable power supply is one of the greatest problems confronting business activities in Nigeria. Although several research works have been done on the subject, none of such studies have examined power failure and entrepreneurial behaviour of entrepreneurs in Akwa Ibom State. Although various research have been carried out on active learning, there exist a gap in the entrepreneurship educational literature on how active learning aids in nurturing students’ creative innovativeness. Using a case study perspective with different forms of active learning, year three students on an entrepreneurship skill course were stimulated to come up with creative products or services that could address a need in their field of study or field of interest. The findings revealed that active learning aids in nurturing students’ creative innovativeness thereby contributing new knowledge to the educational literature in terms of utilizing active learning in entrepreneurship education modules.

Despite various research on students’ engagement and participation from different dimensions, a gap still exist in the educational literature in the area of ascertaining if students’ participation in the classroom contributes in any way to the development of their knowledge of key concepts learnt in the classroom. Using a descriptive study, students’ knowledge of key concepts learnt in previous lectures were tested at the end of each seminar tutorial sessions with some evaluation of the sessions for feedback on session activities. Findings reveal that classroom participation does enhance knowledge gained by the students in the session activities. The findings contributes additional knowledge to the educational literature especially that of teaching and active learning. The aim of this study was to inspire third year students of Akwa Ibom State University to produce creative and innovative prototypes of products and services that will address the need of the society. Using an innovative method of teaching through a three-month course structure to tutor them on creativity, innovation and opportunity recognition, the third year students were required to develop prototypes of innovative products and services to address societal challenges in their field of interest. In the face of unpredictable business environment, epileptic power supply, unstable government policies, poor infrastructural facilities, poor market network, inadequate capital among other factors affecting the Nigerian business environment which hinders motivation and has a great limitation to the functionality and development of entrepreneurship yet businesses are still being established. Hence, the aim of this study is to identify the internal factors that motivate such entrepreneurs in starting up businesses in Southern Nigeria despite the above challenges. Using a descriptive study, seventy one entrepreneurs were investigated. Findings revealed that passion, the desire to do something pioneering and innovative, and the feeling of accomplishment were the major factors that motivate the entrepreneurs in this context. Hence, government agencies and other empowerment institutions should take note of these factors if entrepreneurship is to be fostered.
