Abstract: In this study, the primary phytochemical and biological screening of the aerial parts of Trichodesma ehrenbergii Schweinf. ex Boiss. (Family; Boraginaceae)has been done. Phytochemical analysis showed the presence of phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, steroids, tannins, saponins, and sugars in different extracts of the aerial parts of T. ehrenbergii .The concentration of phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids and tannins and saponins were found in the range 138±0.8mg/g (as gallic acid equivalent), 123±0.6mg/g (as rutin equivalent), 1.3±0.6mg/g, 2.7±0.2mg/g and 6.7±0.2mg/g, respectively. Combined and free amino acids analysis showed the presence of 17 amino acids as free and protein amino acids. Glutamic acid (29.919ppm) and lysine (72.640ppm) represented as the major components of free and protein amino acids, respectively. The antimicrobial activity of methanol extract of the aerial parts of T. ehrenbergii against 6 bacterial strainsand 5 fungal strains by a pour plate technique method was determined. The aim of this study focused to investigate the chemical constituents of chloroform and methanol... more The aim of this study focused to investigate the chemical constituents of chloroform and methanol extracts of Traganum nudatum aerial parts and evaluation of their related biological ability as antitumor, anti-diabetic and anti-inflammatory activity. The GC-Ms analysis of chloroform extract revealed the identification of 45 compounds (26 terpenoids, 13 fatty acids methyl ester, 3 sterols, 2 alkaloids, 1 ally benzene). Carvacrol and citronellol were the major components of the terpenoid compounds while elaidic and stearic acids were to fatty acid methyl ester. The methanol extract was applied to polyamide column chromatography which led to isolation and identification of eight phenolic compounds. The ethanolic extract of the aerial parts of Suaeda monoica was successively fractionated using p... more The ethanolic extract of the aerial parts of Suaeda monoica was successively fractionated using petroleum ether, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and methanol. The GC-MS analysis of dichloromethane fraction has resulted in the identification of 24 non-polar compounds. N,N-dimethyl-1-dodecanamine (19.13%), methyl (Z)-9-oleate (18.1%) and 2-methoxy-3-(2-propenyl)phenol (12.14%) were the major components and fatty acids methyl esters represented the major class of this nonpolar components. Phytochemical study of the ethyl acetate and methanol fractions led to isolation and identification of seven known compounds identified as pyrogallol, ferulic acid, luteolin, (+)-catechien, gallic acid, naringin and naringenin. Dichloromethane, ethyl aetate and methanol fractions exhibited weak to moderate antioxidant activity using DPPH free radical scavenging method. Conclusion: It can be elicited that the ethereal extracts of two plants have moderate antimicrobial activity against selected strains.

SOME nutritional vitamin, flavonoid and phenolic compounds of Forsskaolea viridis aerial parts we... more SOME nutritional vitamin, flavonoid and phenolic compounds of Forsskaolea viridis aerial parts were extracted and investigated for the first time by using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). A comparative analysis of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) and water-soluble vitamins (C and B complex) were carried out. Results of this study revealed that, the presence of vitamin A (retinol) as the highest concentrated fat soluble vitamins (332.591μg/100g), and the presence of water-soluble vitamins, in which vitamin C (ascorbic acid) represented relatively high concentration (234.21μg/100g), followed by vitamin B12 (cobalamin) (386.06 μg/100g) and vitamin B2 (riboflavin) (112.16 μg/100g) in the aerial parts of Forsskaolea viridis. The outlined results of HPLC investigation of methanolic extract showed the presence of 18 phenolic and 26 flavonoid known compounds, which were identified for the first time from the aerial parts of Forsskaolea viridis. The high concentration of vitamins, flavonoid compounds and phenolic acids contents in the plant reflected to the medicinal importance of the plant as anticancer, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity which play an important role in human health and plant growth.

In this study, the proximate analysis and primary phytochemical screening of the aerial parts of ... more In this study, the proximate analysis and primary phytochemical screening of the aerial parts of Forsskaolea viridis Ehrenb. ex Webb (Family: Urticaceae) has been done. Proximate analysis showed that the percentage of total ash was (16.77 ± 0.22), crude fibers (10.82 ± 0.41), total lipids (6.27 ± 0.07) and the chemical and physical properties of lipids were determined, total protein was (8.81± 0.45), total carbohydrates was (34.72± 0.41) and nutritive value of the plant determined. Phytochemical screening showed the presence of phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, steroids, tannins, saponins, and sugars in the aerial parts of F.viridis.
