Addition
Objective:
At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be
able to:
a. identify
the following steps in solving an addition
word problem,
b. solvesword problems involving addition through
grouping,
c. value
the importance of following steps in solving
word problems.
Direction: In a 1 whole short bond paper. Find and
encircle the vocabulary words in the grid. Look for
them in all directions including backwards and
diagonally.

Addition is a process of combining two or more
numbers.

Addends are the numbers being added

Sum is the result or the final answer we get after the


process.

Word problem is a math problem written out as a


short story or scenario. Basically, it describes a
realistic problem and asks you to imagine how you
would solve it using math.
Example:
Ana has 12 apples. She bought 5
more apples. How many apples does
she have in all?
“It’s me! Hi! I’m the problem, it’s me!”

PROBLEM #1
There are 1, 726 boys and 1, 937 girls on the playground
for their field demonstration. How many children are there
in all.

PROBLEM #2
Christine’s mother gave her Php. 135.00. Her father gave
her Php. 245.00. How much money do Cristine has now?

Problem #3
A male lion at zoo weighs 385 pounds. A female lion
weighs 704 pounds. What is the total weight of the two
lions.
Direction: Analyze and solve the following problem.
Write your answer in a ½ crosswise.

1. Aling Kendra went to the market to buy a kilo of beef for Php.
285.00, a kilo of chicken for Php. 125.00 and a kilo, of oranges
for Php. 165.00. How much did Aling Kendra spend in all?

2. Peter went shopping and bought 19 cupcakes, 18 small pies
