Miracles in the QURAN

Relationship Between the Quran and Modern Science

 The relationship between the Quran and science is a topic

that has sparked much discussion and debate.
 Many people believe that the Quran contains verses that
align with scientific discoveries.
 Others argue that these interpretations are subjective.
 Modern scientific theory today finds itself quite close to
the Quran.
Topics in the Quran
 Origin of the universe
 Expansion of the universe
 Pulsars
 The Sun and the Moon
 Cerebrum
 Creation of the Earth and Iron
 Human embryonic developments
 Time zones
 Mountains
 Clouds
 Seas and Rivers
 Deep seas and internal waves
 Female bee
 Numerical Miracles
Origin of the universe
[21:30] “Do the disbelievers not realize that the heavens and
earth were ˹once˺ one mass then We split them apart? And We
created from water every living thing. Will they not then
believe?”
 Modern cosmology suggests
that the universe was once a
dense and hot gaseous
composition referred to as
"smoke."
 This principle is widely
accepted in standard modern
 The Quran states that the earth
cosmology.
and heavens were once connected
 Scientists observe new stars and formed from the same
forming from the remnants of "smoke."
this "smoke."  This aligns with the scientific
understanding of the universe's
early state.
Expansion of the universe
 [51:47] "We built the universe with ˹great˺ might, and We are
certainly expanding ˹it˺.“

View of Universe Thomas Diggs

500 Years Ago Version
 Hubble's observation in 1929: Redshift of galaxies is directly proportional to
their distance from Earth.
 Conclusion: Objects farther away are moving away faster, indicating the
expansion of the universe.
Pulsars
 [86:1-4] "By the heaven and the nightly star! And what will make you
realize what the nightly star is? ˹It is˺ the star of piercing brightness.
There is no soul without a vigilant angel ˹recording everything˺.“

 Pulsars are highly

magnetized rotating neutron
stars.
 They emit beams of
electromagnetic radiation
from their magnetic poles.
 “to-Pulsate” means to “Beat
Repeatedly” or to “Pulse”.
 “Tariq” means “the Beater”
or “the Striker. It resembles
the nature of a Pulsar.
The Sun and the Moon
 [10:5] "He is the One Who made the sun a radiant source and the moon
a reflected light, with precisely ordained phases, so that you may know
the number of years and calculation ˹of time˺. Allah did not create all
this except for a purpose. He makes the signs clear for people of
knowledge."

 Light from the sun is described by the word “Dhiyaa” meaning “a Shining
Light”.
 Moon’s light is described by the word “Noor” meaning “a Reflected Light”.
Cerebrum

 Allah has said in the Quran about one of the evil unbelievers who forbade the
Prophet Muhammad from praying at the Kaaba:

[96:15-16 ] "But no! If he does not desist, We will certainly drag him by
the forelock— (front of the head), a lying, sinful forelock!"

*Why did the Quran describe the front of the head as being lying and
sinful?
*Why didn’t the Quran say that the person was lying and sinful?
*What is the relationship between the front of the head and lying and
sinfulness?
 The prefrontal area of the
cerebrum is responsible for:
 Planning, motivation, and
initiation of behavior.
 Association cortex functions
related to motivation.
 Scientifically linked to both
good and sinful behavior,
including telling lies and
speaking the truth.
 Quranic reference (Quran 96:16):
"A lying, sinful forelock (front of
the head)."
 Professor Keith L. Moore notes
that scientists have only
discovered these functions of the
prefrontal area in the last sixty
years.
Earth and Iron
 [57:25] "Indeed, We sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and with
them We sent down the Scripture and the balance ˹of justice˺ so that
people may administer justice. And We sent down iron with its great
might, benefits for humanity, and means for Allah to prove who ˹is
willing to˺ stand up for Him and His messengers without seeing Him.
Surely Allah is All-Powerful, Almighty.”

 New scientific discovery reveals that iron was not created from earth or
earth material.
 Iron was sent down by burning stars traveling through space that had
collided with earth.
 Earth’s core is mainly made of Iron.
 Chapter 57 of the Quran is Surah Hadeed meaning “Iron”.
 In a total of 114 chapters, the middle one is chapter 57.
Two Seas Meet but Don’t Mix
The Glorious Qur’an reads:
•Between them is a barrier which they
cannot pass. (20)
•“He has made the two seas to flow freely
(so that) they meet together. (19)
•So which of the favors of your Lord will
you deny?(21) (Surat ar Rahman)
These verses refer to two bodies of Water One salty and One Sweet water which meet,
but do not transgress, or mix together. The two bodies of water have between them a
barrier
The Atlantic and Pacific Oceans in South America are differentiated based on density,
salinity, and polarity. Differences in these properties create a halocline, which is a layer
of water with varying salinity. Normally, less dense water should be on top, but due to
coercive force, caused by the Earth's rotation, the oceans maintain their positions. This
force doesn't affect most things on Earth but influences the oceans, keeping them
separate despite their different directions of rotation. This is similar to how surface
tensile strength and soil strength differ, causing molecules to separate after collision.
In the Gulf Stream and north of the Atlantic Ocean, thermoclines
occur due to temperature changes, further differentiating the
waters. An example of this phenomenon can be seen in the
Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
Mountains

 [78:6-7] “Have We not made the

earth as a bed, and the mountains as
pegs?”

 A book entitled Earth is a basic

reference textbook in many
universities around the world. One of
its two authors is Professor Emeritus
Frank Press. He was the Science
Advisor to former US President
Jimmy Carter, and for 12 years was
the President of the National Academy
of Sciences, Washington, DC. His
book says that mountains have
underlying roots.These roots are
deeply embedded in the ground, thus,
mountains have a shape like a peg
 Mountains also play an important role in stabilizing the crust of the earth.
They hinder the shaking of the earth. Allah has said in the Quran:

[16:15] "And He has set firm mountains in the earth so that it would not shake
with you..."

Likewise, the modern theory of plate tectonics holds that mountains work as
stabilizers for the earth. This knowledge about the role of mountains as
stabilizers for the earth has just begun to be understood in the framework of
plate tectonics since the late 1960’s.

*Could anyone during the time of the Prophet Muhammad have known of the
true shape of mountains?

*Could anyone imagine that the solid massive mountain which he sees before
him actually extends deep into the earth and has a root, as scientists assert?
More Numerical Miracles

 The human body contains 46 chromosomes. In the Quran, the word

"woman" (‫ )نساء‬is mentioned 23 times, and the word "man“ (‫ )رجال‬is also
mentioned 23 times. This adds up to a total of 46 mentions, mirroring the
number of chromosomes in the human body.
 The word Day is mentioned 365 time. The word Month is mentioned 12
times.
 In the Quran, the word "land" is mentioned 13 times, and the word "sea" is
mentioned 32 times. This adds up to a total of 45 mentions, reflecting the
28.88% land and 71.11% water composition of the Earth.
 The companions of the Cave slept for 309 years, and the story of their
companionship is narrated in the Quran using a total of 309 words.
 In Chapter 32 of the Quran, Surah As-Sajdah, the word “sajadah” appears in
the 15th verse, which consists of exactly 15 words. Remarkably, when you
add the digits of 186 (1+8+6), you get 15, which is the verse number
containing the word "sajdah."
More Numerical Miracles

 [53:1] “By the stars when they fade away!”

 In Chapter 53 of the Quran, named "An-Najm" (The Star), the word "star"
appears in the 1st verse. The word “Earth" is mentioned in the 32nd verse of
the chapter.
 The distance between the mention of "star" and “Earth" in Chapter 53 is
exactly 861 letters, mirroring the distance between Sirius and Earth in centi
light-years.
 Additionally, the radius of Sirius is 1.71 times the radius of the Sun, a ratio
reflected in the chapters of the Quran: Chapter 91 (The Sun) and Chapter 53
(The Star) have a ratio of 1.71.
